I recorded this weeks episode and watched it last night.Thoroughly enjoyed it as usual but one thing worried me.How did they get a Transit van in that garage? The fault with it being headroom.A van that size would not have got through the door.

It looked like a pretty big, high space to me. Yes nobody asked that question did they?

To be honest I didn’t notice at the time, being terminally unobservant when it comes to all things vehicular. Apart from that I enjoy Vera. Good Sunday evening viewing.

Just a shame they don’t make a longer series.

Going downhill imo, why does every episode seem to involve a remote farmhouse and cantankerous old farmer!! I think most of the crime in the North East is probably in the cities.

Because that’s where the books are set I suppose, not in the cities. Same as Midsummer Murders never shows the murder happening in Slough but always in a picturesque village.

My eldest daughter who did a detective/crime stories module with her degree has always told me to watch out for the unnecessary character in these types of shows and if they are in more than one scene they're a major suspect. They try to get around this in many dramas by introducing other crimes like the brothers smuggling things into prison and the woman in Shields who said she knew nothing, they're the "second crime" red herrings. She is really is good at working it out but does tend to stand up about 30 minutes in, declare who the murderer is and go back to reading a book. She is nearly always right and I have started to look for the unnecessary character and in this case it was down to the teacher who appeared to often to be a random person, especially once we knew she wasn't the 'second crime' or even the 'third crime', which several good writers will throw in to put you off the scent. So it was down to her or the ex-social worker who declared that he couldn't remember anything about the girl.

I had thought it would be the social worker and was surprised when it wasn't. And yes, with Vera especially, I have learned to suspect the, seemingly minor, least likely character and am not often wrong.
