I think Duncan is Alan's father which explains why he is against Cassie having a relationship with him: they are half brother and sister.
As to who the murderer(s) will turn out to be..... I haven't a clue! Yes, Lars IS a villain but now I don't think he is in that way.

I agree with your opinion, vicky. {SPOILER:Click to Show} As it looks like the scarf used to strangle Lizzie was Duncan's (though of course he may not have done it), the secondary DNA they got from it will be his and he is presumably therefore Alan's biological father.

I don't think you needed spoilers for what is only speculation, but as you've used them I'll simply say that I agree. I am wondering if we've seen the last of Andreas Hagen, the Først Energy guy who turned out to be Mati's father and if his purpose in the story was simply to provide the link to the Norwegian NDA sub-plot. We haven't seen anything of him for several episodes – I had to check back to remind myself who he was. I guess there won't be justice for the man who was killed in the energy plant accident and whose wife was paid off.
The only other possible murderer of Lizzie I can think of is Drew McColl, who was ruled out from DNA checks and presumably didn't kill his own daughter. I hope it doesn't turn out to be someone completely from left field. Or Kate, who has acknowledged that her feelings for her twin were 'complicated'. No idea whether it will turn out to be the same killer of both women but I'm guessing not.
On another note, some fine acting this week both from Stephen Walters as Thomas – that scene in the cell was heartbreaking – and Arnmundur Björnsson as Lars, whose transition from charming to monstrous was very well done, I thought.

She's occurred to me as a possible culprit. She and Lizzie were twins; if identical twins, their DNA would appear to be the same. So any DNA samples, e.g. from the scarf, that the police are assuming to be Lizzie's could in fact be Kate's.

Hmm! So the scarf could be a whopping red herring. The plot thickens ...

My money is on the woman who runs the seal sanctuary. With Drew being the father of her son and her being jealous of the young girl (original murder) dancing about flirting with who she thought was her man! Then obsessive jealousy of her son's relationship with Suzy. Speculation but that's where I am going. It could still turn out to be the desk sergeant

I think we've eliminated that possibility. Her son's father is whoever's "secondary" DNA was retrieved from the hair found on the scarf, and Jimmy said that has already been checked against Drew's (presumably in case of contamination, as Drew was the original investigating officer into Lizzie's murder).

The way he used his eyes was scarely impressive I thought.

Yes – having watched the programme about Psycho the other night, I'd say he used his eyes in a similar way to Anthony Perkins at the end, when he raised his demonic gaze to the camera, having been boyishly charming earlier on.

Couldn’t they have let Thomas have a happy ending? *grumblegrumble*
Otherwise, I liked the conclusion.

Yes poor s*d, I suppose it would have been difficult having him living on the island after all that hostility. I suppose he’d have sued the police for wrongful arrest and people had been so horrible to him he’d never have been able to live in peace. He seemed mentally disturbed to me was that ever referred to?

He would have been compensated for his wrongful imprisonment. But how could that compensate for 23 years in prison and the hatred of the island? That little madam Molly might have been persuaded to apologise by her mother, but the rest? Donna was well liked I think, and Drew. People would have found it difficult to accept the truth.
I don't believe Drew could have kept his dreadful deed to himself. What a household though. So many ruined lives.
Still, the Glasgow box-tickers have now gone. How could they think they could do better than our Jim? And Cassie was smiling, sort of. And it's coming back next year, hurrah!

Oh goody. I don’t think I saw this from the first season, I might see if I can find it.
