Certainly is a metabolism problem with some. My OH has a granola and a Kit Kat every morning, then a proper lunch with pudding.Later he'll have his dinner (large portion) and maybe a fruit tart or a Magnum, then he'll have some chocolate while watching telly. He's 5ft 11ins and weighs ten and a half stone wet through, his metabolism won't let him put on another pound if he tried. So it stands to reason that if his runs fast others must run slowly and even eating a fairly moderate amount will cause some weight gain, it's not fair but that's how it is.

My thoughts exactly, Holly - would be nice if those who are so quick to condemn people who are overweight could bear this in mind as well. I have a 'non-remarkable' metabolism myself, but in the past I've been overweight (due to medication) and underweight (due to anorexia) and there was a marked difference in the way I was treated as a human being. The unenlightened seem to think that the former equates to being lazy and self-inflicted, and the latter means vulnerability - and patronising 'cuteness', even, being almost treated as a child. I can't be doing with any of it, just glad to be a boring 'normal' size at the moment!! Whatever that means... was somewhat horrified that in certain quarters, actresses are deemed to be too 'big' if they are a size 10. That's scary

I have only eaten one meal a day for a number of years now. I absolutely detest that full-up feeling. I don't generally get hungry till about 1.30pm-ish, but I usually ignore it because if I eat anything after then, I know I won't eat my evening meal.
I know it seems odd (and I do have three cups of coffee before I go work) but it seems to suit me.

Strewth, Cake, wish I could get away with one meal a day, but too much of a hungry sort of person
Still, at least Christmas provides an excuse to indulge in extra scoffage I suppose some folk are already lining up their weight loss diets for the New Year?

My husband goes to Slimming World and has lost over 3 stone, I joined and have currently lost nearly 3 stone. It is all based on sensible eating , they don't call it a diet. However I find that lots of the people -particularly the women - who attend the group are prepared to control their eating but not their alcohol intake, sometimes I feel like I am at an Alcoholics Annonymous meeting! My husband goes to a different group and he says it's the same there!
