Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on E4 on Sunday December 15th at 8pm.
Set ten years before the events of The Original Series, Star Trek: Discovery follows the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The lead character is not a Captain as with previous shows but a Lieutenant Commander.
Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, Shazad Latif, Chris Obi, Mary Chieffo, Terry Serpico, Jason Isaacs, Mary Wiseman, Maulik Pancholy and Sam Vartholomeos.

Thanks for that Dame. Apart from Jason Isaacs all the other actors are new to me. Definitely be watching.

That was interesting. Set before Kirk's time? Looked a bit advanced to me. But then they reimagined the Enterprise for the latest films didn't they. Not too bad, will continue to watch. Is Sarek Spock's father?

Yes he is.
I didn't get that it was set before Kirk's time when I watched it. Looked way too advanced in tech to me. I quite enjoyed the first series for what it was but it just didn't seem like Trek.

"Enterprise" the series was set a full century before the original series and a lot of their technology also appeared light years (pun intended) ahead of Kirk and his crew.
I guess its probably harder for the special effects people and writers to dumb down the technology available to them to match the mid-1960s than it is to just rewrite the canon.

I enjoyed it, but what the hell have they done to the Klingons? They looked awful. When I say awful, I mean not real, plastic, artificial. The Klingons from The Next Generation/Deep Space 9 era looked like living beings. The Klingons in Discovery do not. I'll keep watching though. The rest of it was fine.

It's funny that in the original series the Klingons didnt look any different than Earthlings with the exception of goatees on the men and 'a week in Florida tans' on the women.

This for me is getting better and better. On Sunday Harcourt Fenton Mudd took centre stage. In the original series he seemed a lovable old rogue, (as played by Roger C. Carmel) but in this one he is downright nasty and vile. We even got to meet Stella the 'love of his life'. I'm enjoying this version of Star Trek.

It was an excellent episode wasn’t it! And I’m glad they got rid of Harry Mudd’s fake Irish accent that always irritated me in the original series version of the character.

I agree. This portrayal has got a bit more 'depth' to him. Let's hope he turns up again. Don't recognize the actor though.

Rainn Wilson.
Best known to US audiences for playing Dwight Schrute for 9 seasons on the US version of "The Office"

I see the time slot is getting later. Last week it was 11.40pm. Tomorrow it's 11.50. I wonder if the viewing figures are down.
