It does. After the 3rd one, it starts moving in its own direction. Many of the plots are familiar but the way they are handled is very different. And I think Jay is better than Mike. He's a better character.

The ghosts are established by episode 3 and then it really takes off.
I loved the Halloween episode - something not done in the UK one (so far).

Although I do prefer Alison to Sam. Played by a much better actor.

I enjoyed it. Agree with you Miranda, I too prefer Alison to Sam. I see the politician ghost is the same as ours. Matthew Baynton is one of the executive producers too.

I’m enjoying it. I’d be annoyed if they purely copied ours.

I liked the "Pete's Wife" episode (Pat in our version). The same, but different.
It always amazes me how much the US sitcom writers can put in a 21 minute episode!

I'm on to Episode 4 now, and it is picking up for me.

The American guy without his trousers is a stockbroker, not a politician.

Very much Gordon Gecko inspired.
Love the British officers in the wooden hut in the garden!
It is also clever how Sam goes out and about and encounters other ghosts here and there.

I’ve started this and enjoy it, just not quite as much as ours! I do like the husband, and my favourite ghost is the Hamilton obsessed soldier. I thought that was an excellent joke. I prefer this “Lady Button” and the banker to the MP though. Not so keen on Thor or the hippy. I think the Native American is a good addition and the jazz singer. Interesting that the basement ghosts have had a lot more to do in this series.

I think the history of the actors makes a huge difference as well. The UK version feels like the characters have known each other for years cos the actors actually have in IRL. They bounce off each other in a much more natural way. Whereas the US version is the opposite and feels more 'acted'.

I'm up to number 4, Pete's Wife, which is the first I properly enjoyed - was about to give up. I find Flower annoying but am happy enough with the others. I notice not all the ghosts are in every episode. Where do they go?

I like it - the same, but different.
There are some wonderful set ups and lines. The Halloween episode is good - Native American guy
"I hate Halloween. I died on Halloween!" looks down at his body, "this is just a costume - I'm really an accountant."
Sam "Really?"
"No!"
And there is a scene with Lady Hetty and Thor which is very moving.
Worth sticking with it. Not all the ghosts appear in every episode, but that will be how the writers want to develop storylines. As it is Sam can see and interact with ghosts where ever she goes.
I still smile at Flower admitting that a 'bear hug' is not as nice as it sounds....
