Isn’t it strange for them to have such a long time between episodes in the same series?

They are copying the US, who regularly have 'mid-season breaks' on their series.

Midsomer Murders will return to ITV to finish airing its nineteenth series from Sunday May 13th at 8pm. Midsomer Murders follows DCI John Barnaby and his partner as they tackle intricate murder mysteries in the beautiful but deadly countryside of Midsomer. The series stars Neil Dudgeon, Manjinder Virk and Fiona Dolman. Joining the main cast this season is Nick Hendrix as Barnaby’s new partner, DS Jamie Winter. In the next new episode, titled Death By Persuasion, when a young girl slips away from a Jane Austen weekend dressed in period attire and is found stabbed in the woods, DCI Barnaby and DS Winter need to look back in time to find the killer. Another new DS? What happened to Nelson?

He left to do an undercover course, apparently.

Hadnt Nelson already left when the last series/the first part of this series (!) aired?

Death by drone in this one! Always amazed at the very slow reflexes shown by people in this village. No wonder they all die!

Strange that some season 19 episodes are only being shown now in the UK, I watched them in Turkey last year.

Never watched one before but tonight's tv was dire so gave it a go. Wont be rushing back though, it was tolerable. It was fun to see Hugh Dennis' wife from Outnumbered playing the sister of his wife from Not Going Out. And Neil Dudgeon could be Andrew Graham Dixon's dad, in looks and voice. I was expectng a commentary on the pictures in the country house.

Well that was truly dull. I have never watched the series before but gave it a go and won't be rushing back.

I enjoy MM. I am always fascinated at the novel ways they have of 'dispatching' people
