Anyone been watching The Nightly Show on ITV at 10pm?
Apparently the viewing figures have gone from 2.8m on Monday to 1.2m on Tuesday. And when you consider that the 10pm news averaged 3m viewers the week before that's not great news (no pun intended!)
I read they're trying to make it like The Late Late Show with James Cordan, but that's on at around 11pm or midnight, plus it's on for an hour and they have much bigger guests and a bigger budget. I like Martin Clunes, he's lovely, but for the first guest of a brand new show I'm not sure he was right, and also David Walliams is like Marmite. People who don't like him won't watch, it's been said that some people may tune in next week when John Bishop is the guest host. But they also have Jack Whitehall, Mel & Sue, Davina McCall, Sarah Millican and Gordan Ramsey as guest hosts as well so lets see... No one really jumps out at me, except for Gordan Ramsey to see what happens because he's not really a presenter. I've seen him as a guest on other shows and he always looks uncomfortable.
Maybe they should have got presenters with a bit more danger. My brother saw Johnny Vegas presenting on one of the weekend morning shows and said he really liked him as the presenter because it wasn't smooth and safe but it was enjoyable.
And if you've only got 30mins, less once the ads have been included, then maybe less of the stunts and more time with the guest but get better guests...actually I liked Rob Bryson as well, but Norton had Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen on Friday in a 45min show.

Haven't been tempted by this.
I used to enjoy the chat show with Brian Conley which was on ITV a few years ago. Also Des O'Connor's.
I watched a Parkinson Masterclass (from 2012) on Sky Arts, mainly because Carlos Acosta was the guest. Parky is still the king of chat.

I think ITV will have to go some to beat Graham Norton. He gets really big stars and you can see that most of them enjoy doing it. Which must be an unusual experience with the amount of chat shows some of them do.
IMO, Norton has the chat show off pat. Just the right amount of irreverence and comedy but he also gets interesting stories out of them. I think sometimes they say more than they mean to, especially when egged on by the other guests.

Can't stand walliams so wasn't tempted. Didn't realise it was revolving hosts, but can't stand Brydon and struggle to understand bishop so will give it miss.

Norton on Friday was Brilliant, it was so much fun. It always helps when the guests are friendly and up for a laugh.
The revolving guests could work if they had guests hosts I wanted to see! But if tonight is like the start the viewing figures might be down to the half million!

Mel and Sue have pulled out of presenting this. They were due to present, I not sure which week but are now saying they couldn't get the schedule to work. I'm sure no managers were telling them to run for the hills or anything!

I'm sure no managers were telling them to run for the hills or anything! I have money on that. I haven't watched this. All the negative publicity put me off. Glad I didn't now.

I haven,t been tempted to watch this but then I am not part of the demographic it,'s aimed at. I read that it was an attempt by ITV to attract younger viewers. If that is the case wouldn't it work better if it was on later? I liked to watch the 10 o'clock news before going to bed and prefer ITN to the BBC. I don't imagine many of the 18 to whatever-age group are watching The Nightly Show at 10pm so, please ITV, give us oldies the news back and push this back to a later time.

I know, why can't they put it on at 10:30 after the news. It's trying to be like the US talk shows and those are on later than 10pm. I watched a couple of Walliams, who was awful. One of John Bishop, who couldn't go off script. He was talking with Roger Daltry but rather than ingage in what he was saying he jumped to the next item which didn't link very well. I didn't see any McCall but may watch O'Leary to see how he does. At least he's a more natural presenter.

No Nightly Show tonight. It's been replaced by...The News!
Just keep the news at 10pm and move The Nightly Show to later. I know it's due to today's events but if it wasn't important to have the news at 10pm, the Nightly Show would still be on with an extended 10:30pm news show. Also if TNS was on later they'd be able to get some guests on when the theatres chuck out. There's quite a few well known names knocking around.

Gordan. (pause) Ramsey! Why? Dermot O'Leary was ok and a few people have said with more work he could be a good perminant host. I'm watching it now on +1 and he's cooking! Either cook or host, the shows about 22mins minus the breaks there isn't really time to do both, take over Saturday Kitechen if you're that bothered...I think I just don't like him. What makes it even worse is his guest is Frank Skinner! Swap them over and have Skinner as the host and Ramsey as the guest. I used to enjoy Skinners chat show.
...havng said all that he's just put his hand in a blender and fooled the audience that its been switched on and has cut his hand to shreads and that was bl**dy good. Ramsey was really acting his socks off...if only it was for real!
Oh FFS, ITV+1's got gremlins, so no more show! As much as I wasn't bothered about Ramsey I did want to see Frank Skinner and Ricky Wilson.

The whole show went off air for about 5 minutes last night, and only came on again for the closing remarks, so it wasn't just your telly. Don't know what the problem was, I wasn't paying a great deal of attention, I just had it on because it was after Broadchurch.

But I watched the +1 and they showed the gremlins as well! But when it came back from the add breaks/gremlins the whole second half was shown. Surely if they're showing exactly the same as ITV1 they'd miss the end of the show but they didn't. So could the +1 not have edited out the gremlins bit?
Ramsey keeps wagging the finger on his right hand when he speaks. Most distracting.

Not bothered with this but it says something about how confident the makers were that they moved the news to try and get an audience, insted of letting it follow the nightly bulletin and pick up an audience that way. BBC Scotland do this all the time. They move an established programme to 10.45 and parachute their home grown effort into the 9pm slot, doubtless hoping that those who have turned on for HIGNFY will stick with 'Up The Glens with Lorraine Kelly'..... ...this is seldom the case but has led to some excellent results in the traditional Hurl The Remote at the TV competition, north of the Border.....
