Excellent news! I've read the original books and have watched all the previous series at least twice, if not three times so I am ready for some new ones!

I really like Vera. The stories often have a depth and sadness to them, rather than just being a mystery to solve. Reminds me of Jack Frost in that way (which I loved).
The only thing that takes me out of the story is that Vera herself looks like Orinocco the Womble. He was always my favourite Womble though.

Just read an interview with the marvelous Brenda Blethyn about this. Of course it clashes with the new Suranne Jones drama starting on BBC on the same date. For me Sunday evenings this summer have meant hardly switching on the TV at all as there has been nothing that I have really wanted to watch. Now I have two programmes that I'm looking forward to coming at the same time like buses!!!

I like it, but I have to be in the mood.
I like the scenery because I know where most of it is and I know where the new series is going to be as everyone has been sharing shots of the filming It's fun watching her time travel around and cover several police force areas!
But all dramas do that I suppose. George Gently fairly zipped around the North East. I used to think he must have a tardis. You know, going into a pub on Newcastle quayside, then coming out and crossing the road by Durham Cathedral and talking about the docks!! Then popping up on the beach in Hartlepool. Ha ha!

Same when Casualty was filmed in Bristol. Ambulance flying down a road, turns a corner and pulls up at a house 10 miles away!

I did see this but dozed off in the final 20 minutes, waking just to see the murderer being put in the back of the police car. So I know who but not particularly why. It had been a long day.

Same happened to me but I woke up after the car had gone and Vera was offering Aiden a lift, so I had to watch on catch-up this morning..

I enjoy it, even though I know it will leave me sad. This episode was no exception.

I'm sure the Forestry Commission will be a bit concerned at how their staff looked last night.
Our staff go up there with our students quite often and nobody's ever mentioned there being any bothies in the woods.
