Call the Midwife is a pre watershed programme. I don't know how much of their reactions were edited out, but actually most of the kids caught on really quickly that the issue was about the father rejecting (initially) the thalidomide baby and the mother wanting to look after it. I find these kids get straight to the point in a lot of respects. If I were their parent, I'd be quite proud. I'd be a bit embarrassed if they were my two 11 yr old girls who knew all about Adele and yet wondered whether the UK had a King...... The 11 yr old boy, however, had a very GSOH and made sure his younger mate knew that the baby was brought in by a bird and dropped onto the bed.

I loved their reaction to Catchphrase. Shouting the answers at the telly just like the grown-ups!

I forgot to say earlier that I went right off the young lad who said he wasn't really a fan of animals. I find the Chinese girls and the Welsh brother and sister the most endearing, they're really kind-hearted children, I love the way they comfort each other when they get sad.

I've only seen it once, but the comforting was also what I really liked. When are the sprogs on?

Scarlet was on celebrity first dates, was interesting to discover she was a Latin dance champion. She explained she has been using fake tan since she was a child.

What she said about her childhood explains a lot of how she is now. I love her, she makes me laugh so much. She's also quite smart in some ways.

Gogglesprogs - Paloma Faith has cancer? That's sad. (It's her star sign)

They are so much more street-wise than I was at that age but then again I knew exactly who Prince Charles was and other things that they don't know. Our world was so much smaller when I was at school, only 3 tv channels, no 24 hour news, no internet of course, so their knowledge is much broader but maybe not as deep. Loved it when they were discussing how the Little Mermaid could, or could not have children

That was making me laugh as well. Especially the bit where the middle girl said something like 'you'll understand when you're older'. Can't be more than a year between them!

The girl on our left from the "posh" duo seems very bright. Last week they were talking about having a woman PM & she rightly pointed out that Mrs Thatcher had been the first. She has made similar comments too. Very sharp cookie (in the positive sense).

Is that the blonde one? The dark one next to her is a bit of a dumb bum though, bless her.

Yes, the blond one. They both appeared to come from moneyed families & I would imagine they are privately educated.

I caught the repeat of Sprogs yesterday evening . They're all such lovely kids - they picked a really good bunch there . The boy with the glasses from the three Welsh kids has wisdom beyond his years - he comes out with expressions you'd hear from a middle aged parent and I liked his fussing about recycling the paper . I was comforted that most of the children were unfazed by the maths questions from that Genius program . I did lol at the conversation about Novak Djokovic and the donkey cheese ..." nice to have something to fall back on if the tennis thing doesn't work out "
