New quiz show starts next Monday, instead of The Chase, for 4 weeks.
The presenter is Rylan Clark-Neal.

Ok, I looked on Google and the 'babushka' comes from Russian dolls. Which aren't called babushka. The dolls are called matryoshka. Babushka is Russian for grandmother.
Hmmm.... so the show is people answering questions and then picking a matryoshka to see if there's any money in it. Hmm....

Hmm ... The 5pm slot is my usual Chase fix. I may defect to 'the other channel' for Pointless!

I couldn't be bothered to watch it, so really can't pass comment. But I'm not surprised.

It's one of those where they get stupid people to take part and then don't let them win any money until right near the end.

Saw the last 15 minutes tonight - wasn't quite sure what was going on. Some of the questions seemed really easy (true or false, the chancellor of the exchequer lives at No 9 Downing St - they got it wrong) Who is the presenter? Never seen him before...

Trouble is you are stuck with the same two contestants throughout and if they are irritating, and today's two certainly were, you are stuffed.
It is similar to Deal or no Deal which ran for several years even though it was total luck and naff. However I don't think this will because there is no audience enthusiasm or Banker menace to gee it up. No atmosphere; a snails pace.
Deal or No Deal is like opening boxes at a party. This is like opening boxes at a wake.

There is always a break in The Chase, and try-outs for new quiz shows, sadly ,or not, they trial and disappear .
The Chase works because it is a simple formula, ask a general knowledge question, contestant answers it,viewer talks to tv.
All the trials seem to want to make it all so complicated.

Watched a bit again, too slow and some of the answers are so easy there is no tension, despite attempts to rack it up.
Like Rylan as a presenter, (but he must stop saying "guys"),just this is not the right vehicle.

I don't mind pointless but I do feel it's a 30min show dragged out to 45mins. And if the first round is a subject I have no interest in like Footballers Who Have Played In The World Cup, then that's the first 15mins gone for me. That's why I find The Chase to be one of the best quiz shows for years, because there are so many questions per episode. As a viewer you can play along at home, and it doesn't matter if you don't know the answer because a new question will be there in seconds or a minute and you can test yourself on that final Chase. I used to like Millionaire but once the novelty wore off of peopke playing for a million pounds, it kinda dragged, an hour long show would be lucky to have 15 questions, which is a bit boring if you're playing at home.
Having said all that I haven't seen Babushka! Lol. I'm gonna try and remember to watch it tomorrow.
