Live ,for the first time apparently, next Saturday at 8pm.
My money is on Emmerdale for best soap ,and "Ashley" will definitely win something .
It is always a bit more lighthearted than other award shows.

Live ,for the first time apparently, next Saturday at 8pm. My money is on Emmerdale for best soap ,and "Ashley" will definitely win something . It is always a bit more lighthearted than other award shows. I'm looking forward to this. 😶 I think Emmerdale should win the best soap award. EE has been getting better recently but it's an award for the last 12months and I don't think it's warranted it over that time. The bus crash was a distater...it both senses! Corrie is too over the top on the 'comedy', Emmerdale can be too, with David and that new Lydia,😞 but not as much as Corrie. And their 2 big storyines involving Bethany and Ken have bored me to tears. Bethany's character has been rewritten to accommodate the story because she wasn't like this when she joined the show. And Ken was starting to be made into a Mr. Nasty or Grumpy with his refusal to help Tracey, changing his will, telling Sinead to get an abortion just so there'd be a number of suspects and now the storyline is starting to wind down he's gone back to the old Ken. I couldn't give less of a s**t who pushed Ken if I tried! Emmerdale's car pile up was brilliant, each episode focusing on a different duo or set of characters and even the episode with Emma and James, which was a bit bonkers was still really gripping and I don't really like her character, but loved it! And the whole build up and special effects were brilliant. They used a busy road outside the village (ok, unlikely that they'd all be in it at the same time, but it's soap land!) So they could get a bigger scene and make it look better. WE had a driver slump at the wheel unconscious, but still managed to navigate 2 90° bends into the market! The amount of outside-the-square-location work they're doing at the moment it might've been better to have fewer characters involved but make it more believable. And the whole Ashley storyline has been done so well. They haven't rushed it to try and get it all done and dusted in a month or two, because that's not how it works, and they've shown all aspects of the dementia and all points of view from the spouse, Lauren, to his children and his father aswell as Ashley himself. It's been really moving and well played by John Middleton so if he does win, it'll be deserved and a nice send off for a well loved character. And also the Rhona storyline is being played out still and the scene where she went to the rape centre was really moving, she played it so real, she shock and emotion of the situation really came through. Emmerdale for me. Next year it might be something else as soaps tend to have peaks and troughs but Emmerdale has had a good year. I know it's the BRITISH soap awards but I wish they'd have one international soap award just so we could get a few Neighbours cast in there.

Thanks Geoffers. I just asked about this on BGT thread. I didn't think they'd be able to rearrange the awards as a lot of the soap would have had to schedule their filming to allow the actors the time to go to the awards including arranging hotels and travel. I understand why they've rearranged BGT but it's annoying that the soap awards won't be live now. I hope BGT aren't trying to say "we're being respectful and wouldn't want to clash" Because I dont buy it, it's more likely that they know everyone will be watching the MCR concert and won't get any viewers.

So Steve McFadden ain't there. What's happening with him and his character? He had about 2months off a Christmas to do panto so you'd think he'd be back by now And he's been doing nightclub appearances so I don't know why he's not there.

They do stretch it out,l mean if you win for best dramatic performance, than that is a shoe-in for best actor or actress, so seems an odd category.
And if you are up for an award,at least prepare something, all that "l didn't think in a million years l would win" got a bit wearing as did all the thanking of everyone from the dinner lady at school to the Lord High Emperor.
It seems that each soap won something, but not sure about Doctors?
There was no way "Ashley" was not going to scoop everything, however a bit of dress sense John Middleton, I think 3 piece suits and tie-pins were last seen in the 1980s.
However, well deserved, enjoy the retirement and well done Emmerdale .

Lucy Jo Hudson won for Doctors. Eastenders only won 1 award and that was a special award for a script writer.
My highlight was Rob Mallards speech when he thanked his mom and at the end he said "even though this [the award] is fantastic, Dan you're the best thing I've taken home all year." That was so sweet. 😄

Tried watching . . gave up.. Far far too much screaming and whooping. Suppose it's just me being grumpy!

Don't worry Lara. I gave up too. I'm not a great one for award shows as a rule anyway, and this was yet another bore-fest.
