Its back! And is on Bbc2 every afternoon this week. I missed it this afternoon so am catching up on iplayer. We just got gold and silver in the 100m breaststroke and Peatty broke the world record in the semi. Adrian Moorhouse isnt there. The other guy is paired with Jazz Carlin and it may be early but I have to say I could understand them, no burbling on. Ps for those who missed it, the diving highlights are still on iplayer. ..I don't mind a bit of swimming but those two made it unlistenable.... |

Oooh, early controversy! Apparently Sun Yang the Chinese winner of a 400m race is to face an enquiry because he allegedly smashed sample vials with a hammer and refused to redo the test. He had a drugs ban in 2014. So the Aussie silver medallist Horton refused to share the podium with him. The governing body was furious, Sun Yang was furious but Horton got a standing ovation from fellow athletes on return to the village.

I don't know who the studio presenter is as I missed the titles. I think she may have been a speed swimmer. She did , sadly, get rather tied up in the autocue a couple of times and floundered badly rather than quickly going to the paper script. I shall put that down to first show nerves. She seemed to manage Becky and Mark better than that Helen did. Personally I preferred Clare balding who always seemed on top of all the stats, but I did like this woman so I hope the rest of the week goes well.
Will there be any synchronised swimmming though??? Especially Mixed!

It's kicking off again today! Sun Yang won gold after a DQ on the Latvian (?) which gave our Duncan Scott a joint bronze medal . So Scott refused to acknowledge Sun on the podium and Sun went mad, and then came back to him as they were exiting saying "You lose I win". He was also roundly jeered by the crowd, except for the Chinese supporters.

I wish these championships were being broadcast live instead of highlights. I also find the three nattering in the studio boring beyond belief, and their voices irritate me, too.

...Adam Peaty wins another Gold....this time in the 50 Metres sprint....great stuff....I see the BBC found time to include it between all the tedious studio chat in their highlights show.........so well done..!

Yes, as ever , too much chat on sports programmes . It doesn’t seem to matter how much people complain about it, nothing is ever done about it. I tend to record sports programmes and the just fast forward through the chat.
