The new ten part series – featuring long-time judge Paul Hollywood as well as new judge Prue Leith and hosts Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding – will kick off on Tuesday August 29th at 8pm. The first week is cake week.

Did you hear the bit in Nadiya's Cookery Programme when she said that if anyone was getting too upset or angry because something had gone dreadfully wrong the cameras would try to zoom in on their faces and catch the tears or melt down but Mel or Sue would quickly jump behind them and swear loudly so that they had to edit it out, thereby saving the contestants more embarrassment on the TV. How nice of them, I hope it is a tip these presenters have learned

I remember reading that. Mel & Sue did a lot of helping and were particularly good when things went wrong.

I like that Prue's catchphrase is, "it's not worth the calories"! Rumour has it that 8 cakes end up in the bin in the first episode!

I just saw Kevin O'Sullivan's tv review on 'The Wright Stuff' and he reckons it is excellent. In fact he enjoyed it more than the original...so I may give it a go, he did say the adverts would be a pain though.

I was just setting my recorder for next week and it prompted me to record An Extra Slice. I hadn't spotted this in the Rt but it starts on Thursday 31 August at 10.00. Jo Brand remains the presenter! Yay!! For some reason I had assumed this would be dropped.

Hope they give a nod to Extra Slice when the new Bake Off airs, I thoroughly enjoy it - particularly the misshapen cakes that viewers own up to....
I wonder if CBBC could keep the excellent junior version? The children who took part were brilliant and the sight of presenters Sam and Mark hurrying to light ovens, help lift heavy trays and unscrew jars before disaster struck was great fun.
