It did seem rather like throwing away the Easter Egg to get at the sweets inside. Still, it is meant to be a show stopper, not ordinary household cookery. I daresay the film crew were licking the plates clean afterwards, though!

Can someone explain how you get the balloon out, in its entirety, when you use that method?
LOL at the ballet father of 3 girls - who pointed out that as well as his tu-tu, his feet were in "first position".

If it was me, I’d do the same as a Papier-mâché head - burst the balloon with a pin......I don’t know if that’s what they did do, though.

I’ve had that “melting dome” thing as an individual pudding and it was dramatic. But I don’t think it works as a big thing - it’s too complicated and I think they pick it because it’ll sort the wheat from the chaff. I mean, how would you divide it up between a few people without there being an unappetising mess?

Ive only done it once, but as far as I remember I held on to the tied end, stuck a hole in the balloon and pulled it out through the gap. A lot of them had incomplete globes ( I.e. 80%) with hole at the bottom. Some ‘glued’ two already set halves together with liquid chocolate or piping.

Did I not see someone carefully untying the knot whilst the balloon was still inside the chocolate shell then slowly letting the air out...or was that my imagination?

Well, that would make a lot of sense, I can see. If the globe started to implode, you could keep blowing it up till it managed to set.......but I would be afraid of my fingers slipping ....... ........what a palaver! Karen was brave punching holes in hers....I figure she thought - what the hell! That’s why they gave her a dog’s chance - there would have been an outcry if she went home carrying her clever ‘portholes’.

Rahul seemed to be slowly deflating his balloon at one point, rather than popping it.

But doesn't the chocolate - even set - stick to the balloon?
(Meanwhile, Rahul drinks MILK. Can he get any cuter???)

But doesn't the chocolate - even set - stick to the balloon? I didn't understand how/why it didn't stick to the stainless steel moulds either. Was it something to do with it being kept very cold? I thought Rahul was beginning to come out of his shell a bit this week.

I couldn’t cope with the ‘not knowing’ any more, so I’ve gone to YouTube and entered “creating chocolate globes”. I think it will work equally well if you use “ball” or “bowl” as the search term. There are special moulds for the individual ones and also balloons which are popped to make bowls.
Warning: Do this at your own risk.......it’s addictive.
I reckon it’ll work best if the choc is tempered to the correct temperature, when it will be very shiny and not stick to other smooth surfaces, a bit like those collars we saw the other week.
