Terry did seem to have timing issues - but what a great guy he is. Bee keeping, micro brewery and horse....well, not whisperer, more like calmer since the animal declined to move. Karen and he seemed to get on really well. I think once again we see how the editing can make a person come across one way when they are actually much nicer in real life.

It wasn't! It was Dan. His stuff was bad but I was expecting him to be saved.

Dan had to go...he was becoming a pain, plus he had a disastrous week.
Rahul still doesn’t know he is that good, Ruby was close to star baker even with a very poor, 7th, tec challenge ‘well of love’, very tasty - not sure I what to see anyone drink/eat raw eggs agin on GBBO, Manon, again, left something on her bake, one more time and she should be out - pleased for Briony, she has been very close to being out of this, coming strong where it counts......and Kim-Joy comes up with, Vegetarian Mermaids, all be it with soggy bottoms, so creative.

I was very pleased for Briony who is my favourite. I didn't take to Dan at all so won't miss him, but he did have a struggle this week.

Out of all of them Dan came over as the most arrogant and going on and on about being a stay home dad, so what. Probably gives you more time to practice. Can you imagine a woman bleating on about being a stay home mum, it wouldn't even be a discussion point. His baking was bad this week, and I appreciate that that can happen to any of them but it was disastrous. Manon wasn't very good either.
I always think pastry week kills them. It's just something most of them don't do. The pie was a tough challenge but most of them didn't attempt an actual pie, they went for a flatish filled pastry that was shaped, rather than a raised pie that would dominate a banqueting table. I think Paul even said that one of them was just a fancy sausage roll. Henry VIII would not have been impressed with that.
All that aside, the Wells of Love would be something I would most likely devour. They looked quite simple to make (obviously if you have the time and not in the pressurised environment of the competition).

I got confused at the start with the description of Puff pastry(me and my needful use of subtitles !! ) Though nearer the close of the hour I heard/saw mention of the real Puff pastry which I still recall 60 years ago which I had to do several times at college, few will make it nowadays, preferring the bought ready made product. What was called Rough puff pastry now my choice though fewer layers and much more folding and rolling sessions

Dan had a shocking week so it was obvious he would go.
Some of the pies were simply stunning! Pleased to see Briony win star baker.

I don't think so. He is a brilliant person but extremely modest/shy and, I think, not particularly good at communication. Certainly no use at compliments. It was his work mates who encouraged him to apply.
If he makes the final, I hope his mother comes to watch.

I think bake off has lost its way this series. I wasn't looking forward to a channel change but surprised myself by really enjoying the first series, even warming to Noel who I wasn't previously very fond of. However while the bakers are all very competent (compared to me) some of the tasks are certainly not something you would rustle up on a wet Saturday afternoon and as for the Holywood handshake don't get me started.
