I've been watching the occasional episode on ITV3.
Can I ask you all... why does the pharmacist woman continually wear a neck brace? (Poor Selina Cadell, it must be very uncomfortable for her).

Cos she has weak neck muscles. Doc Martin was convinced it was psychological so he made her take it off. Her head dropped to one side and she couldn't lift it back up.

It was quite funny , but I do feel for the character. When I was younger, my neck used to 'go' every now and then. The first really bad time and the GP decided I needed a collar, he told my Mum to cut up a Cornflakes packet to fit around my neck, to wrap it in a towel and to secure it round my neck with some string. It was the MOST uncomfortable support (and god knows, H&S would allow it now!). I can't remember if it was that time, or a subsequent one, but I did eventually get a proper collar much like the one the pharmacist in the programme wears. I eventually visited an osteopath (as a young mum, when my neck 'went' when I was kissing Danny goodnight in his bottom bunk). He treated me daily for about 10 days including (eventually) that head jerk where the neck cracks. My neck hasn't 'gone' ever since, and that would have been about 25 or 6 years ago. There's a lot to be said for osteopaths and the techniques they use!

Thanks, Miranda.
Cake. That must have been really annoying, not to mention painful. Glad you are all better.

I met some people on holiday who were retired GPs in the area. I think we all knew that the Doc's house / surgery is in reality a private house, but I didn't know that Port Isaac has a health centre and covers and extremely large rural area. I hope they finish his story this time. I can't actually remember where he and Louisa are in their relationship. Are they together or not? No matter, if won't take long to catch up.

So good to see this back Yes it is.
And Martin Clunes - having previously said that season 8, and then this season 9, would be the last - has now said they're planning more, one every other year.

That first ep was as good as an Ealing Comedy - with a bit of Whisky Galore thrown in for good measure

Another great episode. Had to laugh at his little boy coping his movements when they ate toast.

Enjoyed it even if the section related to the handover to a new headteacher was totally unrealistic, especially as the previous head still lives in the village. Still, it is a drama rather than a documentary.
