Paul O'Grady is back with this delightful look at life at Battersea Dog Home and the work of the caring team of vets and staff who nurse poorly pooches back to health and rehome them.
Needless to say Paul falls in love with an elderly Yorkie called Wilma....but will he take her home?
Starts Thursday 19th October at 8.30.
Pity it is just half an hour....

That poor Shar Pei though! Honestly, letting a dog get that fat at that age is just abusive

Often over weight dogs belong to elderly owners. Unable to provide the walks needed, they compensate with treats. I think they said that dogs owner had died....? The lady who took him admitted she hoped to slim down with him - and she had shifted a stone by the time they filmed them again.
I think it is great that there is "someone for every-dog" - many prefer to bypass the mad puppy stage and get a mature dog - one where its character is known.
I really thought Paul would go home with the Yorkie, but he sensibly held back.

If you can't walk a dog you should get an old one. It's not fair on a young dog

I really thought Paul would go home with the Yorkie, but he sensibly held back. Give him time. I wouldn't be surprised by the end of the series to see he had adopted at least one little dog.

I thought he'd go home with Wilma, too! He was sorely tempted.

Oh poor Ben! I hate seeing a dog so shut down.

All turned out fine for him though.
I wonder if his owner had died (of old age) and whoever was "dealing with things" just took the dog to Battersea and left him. Shame they could not have taken time to give some details to the staff, but once he came out of his shell he was a very boisterous 14 year old - and needless to say was soon snapped up.
NOT surprised that the foster mum of May the Alsation decided to keep her. That level of commitment, how could you let her go? Gorgeous puppy growing into a gorgeous dog.
Lovely programme - WHY is it not one hour long?

I agree it's a lovely programme. In spite of some of the sad tales, it's mainly uplifting and cheerful, which makes a change from lots of the gloom and doom on TV.
Paul is so enthusiastic! - and he never gives up on a dog, he keeps hoping it will all come right.

Another lovely episode this week. The two elderly labs were bound to be snapped up - and what a lovely home they went to.
The little puppy that kept biting - having been removed from his mother too early - was so cute. I did wonder why they did not pop him in with some other puppies and their mum) for some canine discipline? As it was the staff soon sorted him out and one of them gave him a forever home.
Nice reunion for the couple with their roaming staffie - but I expected Paul to remind them about micro chipping (now compulsory?)

I missed the very end as the recording cut off early. Who took the two labs?

A delightful elderly lady (bit like a cross between Jilly Cooper and Camilla) who, as she said, could not have a young dog any more but wanted to keep having dogs in her life. She lived in a beautiful home with a big garden and the dogs, as Paul put it, had certainly landed on their paws.
A lovely happy ending.
