We had two series of a US version, one in 2003 and the other in 2009. But none since. I don't know why there were only two series and why they were spread apart by 6 years. I don't know if the program got poor ratings or if there were issues in getting insurance for the celebrities in the event something happened during filming that caused any sort of injury that affected their careers. Some of the weekly challenges were pretty physical. I remember Melissa Rivers was in one of them. There was talk at the time the US celebrities were shocked at what they were asked to do and refused to cooperate. Don’t know how true that was.

As we all know, these celebrity based reality shows are a way for fading or peripheral celebs to get on national television. In their zeal to get back on the screen they probably don't always fully read the small print about what the series is actually about.

I'm watching this . .and the extra Camp too. I love it. Whilst watching I've packed, labelled and priced over 50 craft packs for the shop so no guilt at all for spending my time watching it!
I love the way the celebs look natural and ditch the make-up - it is always an improvement. For sure Kate Garraway will be chased by a hair product company - her hair looks amazing. Even the campmates I'd never heard of are becoming familiar. The party tricks were brilliant.
Extra Camp is becoming too noisy and far too many in-jokes, although there is so much screeching laughter it's difficult to hear what they are saying.

I seem to have got out of the habit of watching this. One of the reasons I think is I can't stand Ant.!

Looking forward to this. And for once, I think I know more of the celebs than I don't. I think it has made a difference with it taking place in Wales this year.

I don't watch, but every year it's all over radio, papers etc, so I know the sort of thing that happens... But someone last night 'was locked in a box of vipers' ? That can't really have happened? What actually did?

There were 2 of them in underground “coffins” filled with corn snakes having to communicate number sequences to each other to unlock small safes with stars in. They are harmless I believe, but if you have a snake phobia then they would still be scary! much screaming ensued.
edit: they got 9 out of 10 stars! Not bad for one of them being scared out of his wits

But he hasn't done himself any favours by showing / being obvious with his phobias (and he has a few!) If I know anything, I know the Great British Public will keep voting him for the challenges! Pffft ...

Though as usual am in tv heaven,a couple of things were made up.
Firstly, were they not all in a bubble before it started,so the the introductions in first episode was a bit all pretend.
And presumably, there will be some latecomers,to shake it up a bit,or perhaps not this year.
Just want some fall-outs to start,it is all a bit of a love-fest at the mo.
But still all great telly, and is working well as ever.

You’re welcome. I don’t mind snakes and I’m not claustrophobic, but I have a terrible spider phobia, even though I know in my head the ones you get in this country are harmless I still scream!

So far I am really enjoying this. It looks so different in that creepy castle. They seem to be getting on well...I wonder how long that will last

That looked an easy challenge that Shane did compared to the one Jessie and AJ did the day before
