The new afternoon series on BBC1 at 2.15 from Monday 26 February.
The title suggests it will be dire but you never know! It stars Mark Benton and Joe Joyner and could be another Coroner or Father Brown....... He is a down at heel PI, she is a client who becomes his partner. I doubt it will be up there with Cormoran Strike but it might be enjoyable.

I like Mark Benton and remember Jo Joyner from North and South as Thornton's spoilt, selfish sister. That was a long time ago – she's done a lot since but nothing that I've seen.
I imagine the location will have star billing too, as in the Morse episodes. Stratford itself is very pretty and the countryside around has many picturesque villages.

I always liked her as Tanya in EE. I haven't seen him in a huge number of shows. But their casting is a plus for the show so I shall definitely give it a go. Series link set!

I hadn't noticed this. I'll give it a whirl, though as it's on every weekday the episodes may pile up on the recorder. Mark Benton was in the latest series of Death in Paradise, the episode about poker players. I haven't seen Jo Joyner in much - I only vaguely remember her in North and South, but liked her nearly as long ago in No Angels, and in the first series of Ordinary Lies.

I’ve put it on series record, so it can build up and can see what it’s like in the evenings when there’s nothing else on (which can be fairly often).

It looks okay from the trailers and it’s filmed around me, so I’ll give it a go.

I enjoyed it - what you call a gentle crime drama - and all set around glorious Stratford upon Avon!

I loved it too. An easy watch and two likeable leads (well three if you count the Shakespearean actor/receptionist). And a beautiful location.

My brothers had a moan about this...mainly due to the timing. He thinks it should be in at 9pm instead of Masterchef "24weeks!" It has a good cast and is gentle detective drama. I think it'd work well on a Sunday night...so would Father Brown and WPC56. It amazes me that the BBC complain about money and a show they could repeat at a completely different time and get a different audience and save a bit of money, they don't do. Moving On was the same, the first series they showed in the afternoon and repeated on the evening. But the last series, which was excellent, gets one showing.

I'm half way through it and it's a lot better than I was expecting.
