Lee Mack is co-presenting with Paul this week as Bob was unable to film because he had shingles, apparently.

Poor Bob, obviously hadn’t made it into the right age range for the vaccination Slightly underwhelmed at the idea of Lee Mack as substitute…

My partner was telling me it’s 70 and over for the shingles vaccination. I’ve had shingles twice in my life and it’s awful! Poor Bob, he’s been in the wars lately. I hope he makes a good recovery.

Shingles is bluddy awful. My Dad had it as soon as he retired from his military life and sport. In his eyes. Couldn't even lift his head from his pillow for the anti-viral pills I had it a few years after I had chickenpox in my 30s (caught from my wee boys), for 2 weeks I had what felt like kidney stones. Was in hospital and kidneys found to be fine. Then the blisters came out over my right kidney area. I still feel sharp stabbing pains there if I touch the area. Younger son had shingles when he was 13. Shooting stabbing pain in his right eye and the shingles ran from his scalp down that eye and that side of his nose. My Mum had shingles around her chest, which combined with a water infection and low sodium levels led to what seemed like a stroke. She was out of it completely for a loooong weekend, but thankfully came back to us, but was never quite the same. My thoughts are with all who have nasty shingles.

I had my qualification date for the jab in my diary for years before reaching it after seeing how much pain my mother was in. Of course about three months before what happened? I caught flipping shingles. Luckily the anti virals were really effective for me and I didn’t get it round my body much but primarily the hairline, neck and shoulder. Then it made an approach towards my eye but I got an appointment with an eye consultant at the hospital and he was able to tell that it was not going to damage my vision, thank goodness. I was lucky compared to a lot of people as the pain wasn’t too bad.

The shingles vaccination really works. Although I've never had shingles I used to get very painful cold sores (which are caused by the same virus) at least once a year, often more. I had the shingles vaccine about 8 years ago as soon as I was eligible and I have never had a cold sore since. If you are offered the vaccine, have it!

It didn’t really work did it? Three things struck me. Lee Mack was very subdued. Why on earth choose a vegan presenter for a fishing show? Personally I thought putting the fish back would make it OK but apparently not. Anyhoo it seems nonsense to include someone who objects to the sport: to me it’s the same as a cookery competition when the judge then announces they are whatever intolerant and cannot taste the food. That magnet thing really got on my nerves. What is peaceful and contemplative about chucking that thing about? I reckon it would disturb the fish as well.

I have had shingles 7 times but too old for jab! It isn't too bad, just itchy rash where my knicker elastic goes! I always take Aciclovir as soon as I know what's coming.

The Vegan angle was addressed early on as Lee told Paul that Bob knew he was vegan and said "good - that will annoy Paul".
I like Lee and thought he was very good. In no way trying to take Bob's place, he bonded with Ted (loved them cooking together) and allowed Paul to do some solo fishing on the boat.

I never realised Lee was vegan (There again why would I.) It was still enjoyable...get better soon Bob.

I like Lee Mack and his very quick wit on WILTY and was afraid he would feel the need to be constantly funny on this. It was nice to see the more serious side of him (did he imply he is a Buddhist do you think?) and especially the way he and Ted were with each other. I always think you can tell a person's character by the way animals react to them. Ted clearly thought Lee was OK! I did miss Bob though and hope he is fighting fit again by now.

I love this programme so much Lovely to see Bob back. It was a bit melancholy at times tonight, and laugh out loud at others, as has often been the case Good to see them determined they would be back for another series, I really really hope they will!
