Fans of the hit TV series Downton Abbey are to be given the opportunity to “live like the lord or lady of a stately home” and stay in the castle where the show was filmed. To mark the release of the Downton Abbey film, the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon have posted their residence of Highclere Castle in Hampshire on the Airbnb booking website. The advert invites two guests to stay in one of the house’s 300 rooms on 26 November and be “treated like royalty”. For the price of £150, the couple will join the earl and countess for evening cocktails in the saloon followed by a traditional dinner in the state dining room, waited on by the castle’s own butler. Guardian Today: the headlines, the analysis, the debate - sent direct to you Read more After dinner, coffee will be served in the library before the guests retire to one of the principal bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom and views over 400 hectares (1,000 acres) of rolling parkland. Live like a lord and lady: 'Downton Abbey' is listed on AirbnbSo, nobody gets the chance to live 'downstairs'?

I'm so pleased about this. I'm hoping we get more Barrow. Richard gave him a keepsake and his family live in Ripon (?) So maybe he could move back to The area. I wonder how they'll bring Carson back. He was back in the 1st film because of the big important visit but surely they won't have another big important visit. And isn't everyone married. I wonder if they'd go there! The dowager!

Maggie Smith has apparently said that at her age she doesn't want to film long drawn out death scenes as it may be too much of a reality. On that basis I wonder if the film will start with her funeral. She is after all chronologically over a century and a bit old!!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps they'll jump to the 30s and have Hitler for tea.

Probably 'to tea'. The 30s were bad but I don't think the aristocracy went in for cannabilism. Although it would have saved a lot of death and misery if one of them had eaten him.

Reminds me of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy entry "Ravenous Bugblatter Beasts often make a very good meal for visiting tourists" which contained a fatal translation error - "for" should have read "of"...

Yes Beverley, the demise of the dowager was my first thought too.
