I've just stumbled across Tom & Jerry on the Boomerang channel. I think it's a kids tv channel but I don't care how old you are, Tom & Jerry is brilliant.
It was the cartoon titled 'Fit To Be Tied' where Spike protects Jerry whenever Jerry rings a bell, but Tom reads that dogs have to be put on a leash so visits Spike to see how long his leash is and then goads him from just the right, safe, distance. Oh my gawd it was funny.
I might try and find out when it's on again...and it was the proper 50s cartoon, not the newer ones.
