I have a baseball ball and mitt, not the bat though.
I do have a jar of 1p & 2ps, I suppose I could store then them in a sock!

Years and years ago we had a coke fuelled central heating boiler in the basement which had a heavy cast iron tool for riddling the ash out. When my husband was away for work I used to take that up to the bedroom with me in case anyone broke in. I was never sure I'd have the courage/ ability to use it but it made me feel safer to have it by the bed. In those days I don't think anything would have been thought wrong with a 7 stone, 20 something woman with a baby having such a thing for defence.

I used to keep a poker under the bed when OH worked away. I don't think my rounders bat would have been much use. I only saw the end when the real Tony Martin was looking round the outside of the house. At the time I thought he was justified. Seeing him made me rather uneasy.

The police would say that if you have a weapon of any kind, you have to bear in mind that it could then be used against you.
Mind you, I would certainly not pause to think about it if I was invaded - I'd be so mad about it, I'd reach for the nearest heavy frying pan!
