Paramount Network have secured the UK rights to the Kevin Costner fronted drama series. The deal covers the first two seasons of the show.
Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, who control the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.
The drama series, which was created by Taylor Sheridan, stars Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Danny Huston and Gil Birmingham.

Well, it's "big", especially on scenery. Although set in Montana it was actually filmed in Utah. Reminiscent of 'Dallas' I thought, but with a lot of cows and horses, and a lot of characters to get one's head around. It is quite compelling viewing.
According to imdb, season 1 has 9 episodes of which the first is 92 minutes long (net of adverts). This was only half that length, so Paramount have obviously split it in two and will be showing S1 as 10 episodes.

There was a series, can't remember the name but it was about a sheriff called Walt, which was set in Montana or Wyoming, the lead character was always banging on about how wonderful Montana or Wyoming was, and on the credits it said it was filmed in New Mexico!
I have to record the repeat of Yellowstone on Friday night as I had something else to record in its 9.00 slot.

Oh, thank god. I knew exactly what show it was, but couldn't for the life of me remember the name!

Kevin Costner certainly has a lot of experience with these remote filming locations. When putting together the project they probably scout out a few areas, see which is the best in terms of infrastructure for setting up shop, ease of obtaining permits from the local government, best natural lighting and vistas in one area. I guess the phrase "that's why they call it acting" applies not only to actors playing other people far removed from themselves but locations playing other places.

Well I barely understood any of that! Was there a coherent plot buried in there somewhere? I wondered if I had made a mistake and was watching episode 2 as my recording failed and I was on My5. Perhaps they introduced too much too quickly. I couldn't work out who all the characters were and I didn't reckon much to Kelly Reilly playing the daughter.
Is it normal for a cow and a calf both to run off the second it pops out? Not even a minute spent cleaning the calf off!
I agree the scenery was spectacular but don't think I can be bothered with this. I might try one more. I prefer Longmire, at least I could follow that, lol.

The fog surrounding who the hell the characters all are is lifting, and I'm beginning to enjoy this. Though I never did sort out who Lee - one of the 4 Dutton offspring - was before he got killed off, and I had to look up who Kayce - another Dutton offspring - killed in reprisal (that turned out to be Kayce's Native American brother-in-law).
I notice - and I just knew this would happen - the brief EPG descriptions of each episode are out of kilter, as a result of the double-length first episode being split into two here. Ep.2 refers to the dust settling after a shoot-out which hadn't happened yet, and ep.3 also looks to refer to the following week. Perhaps they'll notice when it gets to the non-existent (as they think) ep.10.

Catching up on this Montana mele - fist meets jaw many time this week.... and people meet bear, bear meets people, bear loses. In a strange way it is rather enjoyable - not that I would tell anyone that.

I've enjoyed it. I thought they might follow straight on with season 2, which was shown in the US last summer, but no.
