Kendra Harrison has just beaten a 28 year old record in the hurdles! And she destroyed the field doing it. She was miles ahead.
But you know what? She won't be in Rio.
The Americans have the strangest qualification process. You get one go at it and if something bad happens, as it often does in the hurdles, your chance of Olympic gold is gone. Just mad.

Be interesting to see what Adam Gemelie does as well cos he's only just back from injury.
But yeah, looking forward to seeing Usain. It always lifts my heart to watch him run.
Just watching the intros. Massive cheer for Usain. And then the Canadian guy gets introduced and you can almost hear the crowd saying 'Who?'

Oh - oh.... was that Usain that jumped too soon? Ah no, it's the American, McLean. Phew.

I recorded this first on the red button live at 7.00 o'clock then it swapped to BBC 2 at 8.00. At the beginning of the 7.00 session they listed the timings of the events, the first of which was the men's pole vault at 7.05. By 7.25 we had seen nothing but chat. By the time we got to 8.00 we had seen , I think three races, all of which were repeated several times so we could watch every footstep, we only saw two pole vaults. The coverage from 8.00 was no better, the races we had seen earlier were repeated and we saw only the winning triple jump. I actually started watching the 7.00 session at 8.00, I eventually ended up watching the programme 'live' as I had fast forwarded so much that I caught up! Why do the BBC ruin athletics coverage so much? Football supporters would not tolerate coverage like this, where chat takes place during the match and the they just go to the pitch to see any goals scored! I often go to see athletics and it is very rare for there to nothing going on in either the track or field. Channels like Eurosport manage to fill in all the time without any 'back to the studio ' stuff . I know they have adverts but they do manage to make you feel that you haven't missed anything. Looking forward to watching the Olympics - on Eurosport.

I think most BBC coverage of sport has been ruined by a saturation of commentators, pundits, and the bloke standing on the corner with his dog, who all get to witter on ad nauseum. It's totally unnecessary, and seems to be an exercise in just providing a lot of people with a (substantial) pay packet. This is in the same league as sending too many people to cover events overseas. The 'BBC team' for Rio will undoubtedly be just as overkill.

I saw that, and was astonished. They will be kicking themselves. She was already the best in the world this year, that's obviously not good enough. Good on her, though. You can see her race here: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/36870016

Athletics does seem to be the most shoddily treated though with swimming coming a close second. Red button coverage is sometimes slightly better. Eurosport is often the best option if the same event is on there or the BBC.

This is surely one of the greatest arguments against the BBC having a Sports channel. They wouldn't know how to do things properly.

The trackside interviews were done (ably) by Rob Walker, last night, until it came to Usain Bolt and then Gabby (accompanied by Michael) came down from her box to do the honours and poor Rob,for whatever reason, was shunted aside. I was at the Anniversary Games last year...it was pouring down...and saw and felt the full force of the aura of Usain Bolt...wow! an experience never to be forgotten.

Worst coverage of athletic's on the BBC last night, I have ever seen - too much talking, not enough action....and did they show any field live.
