I haven’t been to Bath since before the pandemic, but it's back on my list for this summer Really enjoyed it. I was expecting the new boss to be a problem, pleasantly surprised

I never saw the other series' of this so I went into it a little nervous as I always am with any new series of something already established that I hadn't seen. I was very pleased, no back stories to gen up on, just a good old-fashioned 'coppers on the case' detective story.

They are lucky to go into the Parade Gardens! The last time we were there in about 2015, you had to pay to get in!
Good show though.

I'm sure they paid to have it for the whole day.
I enjoyed it but clicked the murderer almost immediately- he had no other reason to be there for so many scenes.

I loved it! Didn’t get the murderer straight off, but it did cross my mind why he was in more scenes than expected. Amazing house though, (Belvedere) - I wonder what it is IRL?

I was a little suspicious of him too but did not guess the connection to the house.
If Dodds is so unsure of his own past, why does he not just order a copy of his Mothers death certificate? If this is going to be a recurring theme, it needs to be addressed.
In the same way no one was supposed to know Morse's first name - when it MUST have appeared in countless witness statements, court documents etc over the years...

I suppose he doesn't want to know. He was told his mother died and he was brought up by an aunt who he adored who loved him. Perhaps he's not ready to wake a sleeping dog.

I liked the new boss. Smart, slightly quirky, knows her stuff. I was glad they didn't go down the usual route of having two strong women that hate each other. "She's watching you when she's not looking at you!"

I really enjoyed it. I guessed it was the chap, but not how and I thought he was the “dead” husband! So not exactly getting it right!!!! And was that actually his son then?

Must admit that since both accused had children, I was worried that no mention was made as to what would happen to them!

Yes, no mention of the children at all.

No reason given as to why the father/murderer left his son's precious koala so the police could find the evidence.
You just wouldn't leave your child's toy and the police wouldn't even question why you had it tucked under your arm.
We shouldn't really look too deeply, should we.

The Kaola was grabbed by two little girls running past and before Dad could get it back his son was bothering the dead lady and people were beginning to notice the mild commotion. So he had to go ahead and pretend to make the discovery, before he was ready.
By the time the toy was put back the police were roping the area off.

I'm greatly enjoying it so far. RT says episode 3 next Sunday is the one we never got that was supposed to be in the previous series. It was shown in some other countries, but for the UK they've had to re-shoot some scenes because meanwhile their boss has changed from James Murray to Claire Skinner.
