Yes why set a challenge and not give people enough time to complete it?

Those steamed puddings! They were poured rather than served, ššš.

They did have enough time. An hour and forty minutes.
Sponge is quick to make, especially in a processor, as is caramel sauce. 40 minutes in the oven was enough to with some spare to make the sauce and creme patisserie.
They just took them out of the oven too quickly and none of them skewered to see if they were baked.

They all left the sponge too late didnāt they? Prue did say (to us) that could be their downfall as they needed to crack in with that first. 40 minutes is an age isnāt it? I think they were all thinking of Victoria sponge timings.

Well it's 40 minutes because you are steam cooking, but they must surely have thought that somewhere in the contest they would be steaming something. They had already steamed their creme caramels for too long after all. So 20 minutes to make the sponge and caramel sauce, 40 minutes in the oven and 30 minutes for the rest. It's tight but there were very few ingredients and nothing really that technical to achieve. Personally I'd have grabbed some pans and steamed them that way.
They were all pretty useless and the meringue bombes looked awful.

Did anyone watch. I felt that it was 50/50. The idea was good. Party food. Some of those sausage rolls were enormous, not what I'd call buffet food. I think Christy was the right one to go. It was close but how often has she remade a sponge or something. She's just not consistent enough on the show, probably marvellous at home.

I could not believe the size of some of those sausage rolls, nor indeed some of the fillings, š¤¢. I am surprised Marty has survived this long and got star baker, well done him. It looked as if Dan might go at one point and I thought he would be the clear winner. Christy was the right choice to go but I thought she was a lovely contestant.

Yes, Matthew has kept out of trouble and seems to be improving weekly.

Josh reminds me of a little chubby schoolboy who, when he wins or gets praise, canāt help but beam and look so proud and happy but then remembers that his Mum has told him not to gloat so he has to rein it in.
