I put my beans in about 3 weeks ago, then a couple more about ten days ago.
I think I'll have a go at some leeks - problem is, I don;t have any actual ground to grow stuff in (it's all paved over), so I have to put everything in containers.
I am sure youtube can teach me how... that's how I learnt to do spuds.

I have thought of putting some beans in pots and may try that this year. I started with radishes in pots and these were the best ever and will go back to that. We also do all our herbs in pots and plastic troughs though a bit neglected they perform well.... especially the mint. I think we only eat lamb because of liking mint sauce. Perhaps we just need to make more sauce, veg - ah and yes Bisto gravy. Our cuisine ain't very haute for the most part. Now for courgettes - one seed in a big pot should do you - as long as there is space for it to stretch out.
Good luck with the trials, Diz ism - it's fun just having a go. Some people grow tomatoes in grow bags on concrete - my mother did very successfully when she could no longer get into her garden - even if the carer could buy them for her..... as indeed the carer muttered when she had to water them....

I dunno why I bovver writing here. I think many are gardening and could add their bit but no one can be bovvered, None of my beans came up so had to start all over - and when they did could not get new bean poles so old ones will have to do and by sods law thus is a summer of gales on its way for certain.
All else flourishes and autumn planted onions ready to come up and have done well - winter rain and spring sun at a guess - nothing I have done that is for certain. There is still much mystery about gardening in my opinion. Roses have been spectacular but over before they should be. I guess dead heading is called for. The lady of the manor in the big estates used to do this but they seem to be in short supply about here. I am told it is a pleasant chore....mmmm…. open to offers, then. And where are other members with garden patches who can add their 5 penneth here? perhaps they go straight to the Green Room to chat.

No,you keep right on writing here,I enjoy your subject. I've had 6/7 gardens in my lifetime, some from scratch but now,in my eighties, live in a flat for elderly folk but not a care home and am looking after a small area only a few of us still like to potter ! The gardener come to do the grass cutting and verges but doesn't know much about pruning. We are left with a Magnolia he prunes regularly, through the year !!!!never higher than 2 feet, about12 years old ! We enjoyed up to 17 flowers this year
