Channel 4 have renewed Friday Night Dinner for a sixth series.
Production is set to get underway later this year for a 2020 premiere.
With the renewal, the series becomes one of Channel 4’s longest running sitcoms. The pick-up comes a little more than a year after the show’s fifth series aired. Series five ranks as the show’s second highest rated season with an average audience of 1.9 million views and an 11.4% share in its 10pm slot.

Friday (28th) at 9 pm
Friday night Dinner: Ten Years and a Lovely Bit of Squirrel. What started out as a celebration of this series, turned out to also be a tribute to Paul Ritter. Who gave his last interview on this show. The cast recall mishaps, and the challenges of filming in a real house. I will be watching.

I needed something to cheer me up after spending a few hours in Southmead hospital, and this was it. Thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the out takes. Great to see 'Nice grandma' (Francis Cukor) and 'Nasty grandma' (Rosalind Knight), both now sadly passed on.
