Sorry sqwerty, I'm afraid that's an urban myth. It's called a popty microdon. Of course it might be a bit of welsh slang these days, but popty means 'oven' and microdon means microwave Aaw, disappointing!

KFC day - a Zinger for lunch. Then I did have salad for dinner, but added leftover popcorn chicken.

Tacos tonight courtesy of Old El Paso, easy to fry off a bit of mince and have it with lettuce and tomatoes.

Sounds like a microwave to me. nocomment Time for a rant..... I hate these ridiculous words (probably all made up by the Welsh Language Society), which sound exactly like the English word, but are just spelt some other way. One of the daftest has to be Ambiwlans. What is the point of that. LP p.s. I'm Welsh, born and bred, so can have a pop at my country, as much as I like.

This afternoon, I had some really nice green tea ice-cream that my wife had made, just in time. We had about an hour of sunshine which has now been replaced by the most ominously grey clouds.

Happy to stand corrected LP (although it was a Welshman who put me right some years ago) I take it Ambwilans means ambulance? Took me ages to get there though

I've no idea what the correct word(s) is(are) and I'm quite happy to accept what you said. I was just extrapolating from what you said, that an oven that pings, might well be a microwave.

Blimey, I didn't know my 'ping meal' would lead to such an in-depth discussion
Used the oven tonight - Quorn mozzarella and pesto escalope with boiled broccoli, cauliflower and sweet baby Chanteney carrots. And gravy. Boo-ti-ful!

Tonight's caravan treat was soup and bread, after a bit of hassle finding gas for the cooking (suffice to say most people get half-empty gas bottles from a recycling centre as new are silly prices, but they had none, so we bought a cheap camping stove in the end). We had had visited family nearby and had a big lunch, though.

LOL, I remember the joy of cooking with bottled gas from our family caravan holidays; it would usually run out during the main meal of the day, so Grandad would send us outside with the call 'Shake! Shake!' and we'd coax the last few molecules out of the bottle ...
Soup and bread is nice as long as it's good soup and good bread

Cod loin, samphire & a pouch of fresh mixed veg in parsley butter (reduced in Tesco). Then half a punnet of M&S raspberries (also reduced). Nicest raspberries I've had.

Have you ever tried raspberries with condensed milk? The sharpness of the fruit and the sweetness of the milk is a contrast which is a joy to the taste buds...

Had chicken breast fried in the pan, with mushrooms tonight. Also our own peas which were only picked an hour before, so really fresh! Then Mr Delia enjoyed a dish of our own raspberries, too. I can't eat anything that sharp in the evenings, or I get rampant indigestion

Roasted peppers/onions/tomatoes in olive oil & mixed herbs with grilled little smoked sausages. What the Spanish call flan for pudding, and we call crème caramel.
