Anyone watching this? Can’t seem to find a thread! Have watched two of the latest series so far. Don’t want to mention spoilers so all I can say is not sure about the actresses who play Diana and Mrs Thatcher ( can’t remember their names) Must say though that after watching the second episode I never thought I’d feel sorry for Mrs T , but they way that the Royal Family treated her at Balmoral was really bad mannered.
I had to keep reminding myself of the interview with the two actors who play Diana and Charles the other day when they kept saying it was fictional. They said it so many times I began to wonder who they were trying to convince!

I know it's about the royal family but I was surprised they didnt mention the miners strike and the Brighton bombing both in 1984. The miners and 3 day week were mentioned in series 3, so I'd assume they'd be worry about this again in the 80s. And the leader of the country is involved in a bombing. I can't remember it being mentioned, the Quen being informed etc. I think they've tried to focus too much on Diana and when there's a decade to cover and multiple characters you lose a lot. I didn't enjoy it as much as other seasons.

I've got through 8 of the 10 episodes so far. I agree they do have a tendency to focus on what I would consider minor incidents, and gloss over or completely omit major ones. I don't think series 4 is any different from earlier ones in that respect though. I'll accept that they can't cover everything and must be quite selective about what to include.
I'm not really liking Gillian Anderson's portrayal of Margaret Thatcher - certainly not as much as, say, Jason Watkins's Harold Wilson in the previous series. We're told it isn't a caricature, but it sure feels like one to me. Overall though I'm enjoying series 4 and finding it rattling good entertainment.
