This is a roundup of all the locations used in the series. I recognised Bath in many scenes, but I’m amazed at the sheer number of places around the country. Congratulations to the scouts who found them, to whom ever had to create an efficient shooting schedule, and to the editors who had to put it all together! www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2020-12-25/bridgerton-filming-locations-guide/

That's interesting. It must make scheduling scenes time consuming as they must have to do several scenes out of sequence at each location and transport all the costumes and props.

I gave this a try on the advice of my SIL who loved it, but it wasn't for me. Too silly and not as smart as it thinks it is, imo.
It came across like French & Saunders do Jane Austen.

She is correct of course. This kind of literature is the bread and butter of publishing and it supports the more academic form and shouldn't be as ridiculed as it is. Crime and Sci-Fi writing is just as formulaic, when did the gruesome serial killer actually get away after killing the detective etc. I love Sansom and his Shardlake stories but we all know Shardlake isn't being executed or killed and especially in the last massive tome, it was clear to everyone who the victims were going to be, it seriously lacked any surprise, but I still read it.

Season 2 is confirmed, based on the second book and centred on Anthony Bridgerton. Good news for me. Production starts this spring.

Let's hope it does, they may have to use less locations - but perhaps the story allows for that.

I didn't watch Bridgerton but I'm always fascinated to see filming locations which may be hundreds of miles from where the action is set. I worked in Oxford for some years and it was not uncommon to see a house, or part of a street, dressed for filming. Quite disconcerting sometimes to see snow in summer!

George Gently and Vera have locals on the edge of their seats. They come out of a pub in the centre of Durham and walk down to the docks in South Shields then walk along the beach in Seaton Carew and finish with another pub in Thirsk. Time shifting in every scene and crossing at least three police force boundaries!! It's the magic of television.

Ok - weary of friends telling me to give it another go, I tried episode 2 this evening.
Enjoyed it.
I think there was too much going on in episode 1 for me - with characters to get to know, the pace of the drama to contend with and the very unlike the time actions/speech of many of those involved. But episode 2 explains the origins and character of the Duke in detail and is less hectic, so I found it much more to my liking.
Bring on episode 3.
Friends - and SIL - who love it have all read the books in the past which I think helps.

Apparently there's a bit of a stink because it's the bestselling fastest selling drama on Netflix and it has not received one single nomination for Golden Globes??? (is that the right name - I take little notice). Nothing for sets, costumes, hair, music, let alone acting. It has been noted that everyone nominated so far is white.
Whatever you think of Bridgerton in terms of the plots, scripts and acting, the sex or nudity. It is one of the first non bias colour castings for a large drama ever and surely that's got to count for something.

There's also a fantastic drama called 'I May Destroy You' about domestic abuse with a mostly black cast that hasn't even been mentioned for the Golden Globes. And yet James Corden is the running for one? For what, exactly?

There was an interesting article about shows produced by women that were promoted as being directed by white men.
I wish I could remember where I read it, but basically most of them.

I've finished bingeing through season 2 of this highly addictive show, and am looking forward to the next one (both seasons 3 & 4 are confirmed).

I forgot about this thread! I have also finished season 2. I didn’t feel the urge to binge, but I did enjoy it. It’s all so beautiful to watch.
For me, the biggest drawback is Eloise. She’s so annoying.
