So..... is Daniel the supposedly drowned son, or....??
Some implausible scenes again, though not as daft as Finding Alice. I am interested in how the story will unfold, so I will keep watching

She seems to be coming across as a bit of a stalker

I thought this was dreadful! That her son, if he did drown in the park lake, was not found and a witness couple mysteriously did not come forward, would seem to suggest that he was indeed abducted. Yet the police clearly didn't take her seriously and not only that, visited her ex husband! Then she was able to inveigle herself into a school with no qualification and no proof that she was capable of doing the job, and her 'papers' (I think they called it DSB? Would be PVG in Scotland and there is no way she would have got near the place without it). Daniel was alone every time she encountered him, and I don't blame the deputy head, if that's what she was, for being suspicious. Then she turned up at Daniel's home!
The whole thing was absurd. Will I watch tonight? Oh, yes! I want to see how sillier it can get.

From the way the father is with the boy (doesn't appear to be an overdose of affection there) I hope she does turn out to be his mother.

I suspect the boy is not hers and the father blames the boy in some way for the mother's death. Probably why the boy can't remember her.
I also suspect Jill Halfpenny's character might in someway be responsible for Tom's drowning, maybe due to a breakdown at the time, and she is not clear about it now which is why they are so keen to get her to accept it by declaring him dead etc.
But ii is so silly anything goes.

Shes supposed to be a Musician/Music Teacher.....can she actually play an instrument. Seen little evidence she can.

Last lap tonight. How much more bonkers can this get? She loves the boy that she thinks is her son so much that she takes him to a crack den, invests her company's money in a forged passport and tries to flee the country with him, without bothering to wait for the result of her illegal DNA test? What else can happen? Even if he does turn out to be her son, she's hardly a responsible parent!

I am not fully up to date yet but, despite the numerous plot holes, I am enjoying it. It’s certainly appealing to me more than Marcella, The Great and The Serpent, all prime shows which I abandoned. I also prefer it to the fantastically praised I May Destroy You which I also gave up on. Maybe it is just a good lockdown show. My main query though is how they couldn’t find Tom’s body if they dredged the lake. Surely that would only happen had he gone in a river? Presumably it wasn’t a body of water like Loch Ness was it? And if they had watched The Investigation they would have been able to find Tom in the open sea with a Swedish cadaver dog which specialises in drownings.

I think, though the Guardian reviewer referred to it as a park lake, it was in fact quite a big lake, which would make it difficult. Though as someone over on DS pointed out, in the far superior The Investigation, which is a true story, they found the victim's body at the bottom of the sea!

Not even a whole body, but various parts!
Mark doesnt seem overly fond of Daniel to me. I wonder if his wife took him, he went along with it, but then she died so he had to bring up the boy.
However bonkers this is I too am enjoying it. It's the Jill Halfpenny effect.

I watched it avidly, but I really don't know why! Presumably because I had to know the complete explanation, totally daft though it turned out to be. I said when 'All Creatures' was on that Channel 5 should be making more original drama, but now I'm not so sure!
C5 are now pushing us towards 'The Disappearance', which 5 Star is showing starting on Saturday,. They're describing it as "brand new" - I don't know how they can get away with this statement, which is just not true. It may be new to Channel 5, but it's a Canadian production from 2017 which has already been shown in the UK 3 years ago, on the now-deceased Universal channel. That said, I am planning to watch it, as it looks like it could be quite good!

I really enjoyed this, some things that came out were quite unexpected. I rather liked Jill Halfpenny,s check coat as well .. That drama The Disappearance I watched a few years ago...it was very good.

Him swimming after the boat is the funniest thing I've seen in ages. Wonderful.
