There is a concerted effort being made to get Time Team back in one form or another. The Return of Time Team? There are two official channels on YouTube connected with this: Time Team Official and Time Team ClassicsI liked Time Team, and it would be nice to see it, or something like it back. But they have to get the right people and the right plan.

I like Time Team and because it's about the time and everyone is in generic jeans and t-shirts it's quite timeless. There has been a lot of archaeology since then, some of it has changed the way we think and it would be interesting for them to inject some of this.
Sadly most universities are now cutting their archaeology and history departments as the govt pushes further for more and more STEM subjects. This will mean that as in previous times only the richest unis will be able to afford to run the courses.

I have been watching a few of the older Time Teams again, and they are still fascinating. Now, with the news coming from Stonehenge, along with the slightly earlier news from Orkney, archaeology is very much in the news again, I am becoming really interested in the Neolithic period.
I am becoming more certain that they really need to bring Time Team back again. I just hope that they find the right people to do it.

Thanks to this thread, I was able to find out what was going on. I have to say that I am very disappointed with it. I studied archaeology for a while at university and, though it was not what I graduated with, I always kept up my interest. The new Tome team doesn't seem to have any real life to it. I almost wish I hadn't found this thread.

It is shown on YouTube and funded by Patreon. It started last year.
Here is the first dig:

I tried the first one but couldn't finish it. There was way too much background music of a really annoying variety. And far too many adverts. Which is a shame as I was enjoying the actual archaeology.

You need a broswer with an adblocker to be able to watch them. It is the only way to watch YouTube nowadays.

I have one but it doesn't seem to work on YouTube programmes, just on the site. And YT premium is bloody expensive.

Is this timing coincidence or do you think Wolverhampton have been waiting for a special moment. They announced today that during the HS2 clearance, archaeologists were working on a known iron age site and much to everyone's surprise a gold pendant was unearthed. It is thought to be the oldest representation of Three Lions and dates to the 12thC.

At the moment, it is law that you must do an archaeological survey at the beginning of a major construction project. If they find something, it does not mean that the construction project will be halted or even delayed; it just means that they would like know if there is anything of archaeological significance that will, if it is not researched, will never be known about. Once the research is done, the construction will begin, though--as was done in the City of London--they might try to fit the archaeology into the construction; underneath some of the buildings in the centre of London, you will find Roman archaeology, kept for further study.
Having read up on the discovery, it doesn't seem to be anything special; medieval horse harness pendants, such as these, are not rare and frequently turn up in excavations; this one was newsworthy because of its quality compared to others, and it was found in time to be reported at the time of the Euros 22 final at Wembley.
