I have booked tickets to see this on 2 September! 😀 It stars Julian Ovenden as Emile and Rob Houchen as Lt Cabel.
I am going with my daughter and she will drive.

Well done, Pearl. I have made no bookings yet, well I can’t make out when it will all open and I do know my old phone won’t be able to hold a digital vaccine passport so I will need to get an upgrade if they are compulsory. Yawn!
I hope you enjoy it, I am so looking forward to seeing something. Anything! I thought that if the theatre group doesn’t get going, I might test the waters down at Wimbledon to see if there is any social distancing, mask wearing etc. Mind you, I hope my glasses don’t stay steamed up throughout a whole performance!

We had a wonderful day seeing South Pacific at Chichester Festival Theatre. There were no restrictions apart from requesting that theatre goers wear masks whilst moving about and during the show. Julian Ovenden was magnificent as Emile De Becque. He has a beautiful voice and when he sang This Nearly was Mine, it was so moving. He is an excellent actor as well as a fine singer. Rob Houchen made a lovely Lt Cabel. He is very slight but such a powerful voice and just right for the part. The chorus of sailors and nurses, all of whom had an actual name, gave their all in the group dances. There is Nothing Like A Dame, Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta My Hair - I could go on but you probably get the picture. Nellie Forbush, the leading lady, was played by Alex Young who took over from Gina Beck in August. She was great and very funny. Her acting was first class too. Everyone in the cast, including the two Polynesian children of Emile, were superb, as was the staging. Here is a taste with the trailer for the show.
It finishes tomorrow!
