The theatre group saw this at Richmond yesterday. It is a 60s version of a French play called Trap for a Lonely Man, which I prefer as a title.
it stars Patrick Duffy as newly wed Daniel who reports his wife Elizabeth missing when she vanishes from their honeymoon cabin in the Catskills. Gray O’Brien who I believe was well known from Corrie, plays a Noo Yawk style cop called Inspector Levine. Suddenly the local priest pops in and brings with him Elizabeth (played by Linda Purl, Duffy’s inamorata IRL) whom he had met before when she made a donation to the church, but Daniel is adamant she is an imposter. The play then investigates where the truth lies.
There were two things wrong with this imho. Inspector Levine is lumbered with some truly dated and sexist jokes. Patrick Duffy, despite wearing a mic, is very softly spoken and although he did his part well it could have done with more vocal heft. By contrast I could hear everyone else, especially Gray O’Brien, perfectly.
Some of my group didn’t think much of this at all. I didn’t mind it, there were some good jokes and I thought the plot developed quite well at a good tempo. The audience reaction was tremendous though, yelling and cheering! Unlike at Jamie, I didn’t spot one teenager in the audience this week, 😂. Also, Duffy was sporting Ukrainian ribbons at the curtain call so well done to him for that.

Is it set in the 60s?

The time wasn't specified! They did use an old fashioned phone and I cannot remember seeing a mobile so I would guess 60s, 70s. The clothes didnt help much in placing it in a specific era either! Generic 20th century, 😄.

Annoying when they do that. If you're going to keep the 60s atttitudes you should dress properly.
