Yes, I thought the same about his partner, very unpleasant woman. Leave the poor guy alone. I do quite like Jack though.
Now, can someone help clear something up please - at the beginning of ep 2 we saw the young couple running off to the Donkey Pitch and I’m sure she called the boy Hugo, later that was confirmed. I noticed in episode 1 that the name on the missing brother’s bedroom door said Hugo so at first I assumed this Hugo with the girl and we were watching was showing what had happened to the brother. Obviously this was not the case, because this is what had happened only 5 years so did I mis-read the name on the bedroom door?

Jack the detective's missing brother was called Ewan. The couple murdered at the Donkey Pitch were Hugo and Sophie. Hope that helps!

Thanks Helen. Must’ve misread the name on the door.

Yes, I've seen it all too. I don't usually binge but I had a day off and my car was having a new tyre so I had time to spare. I'm avoiding commenting as it's difficult to remember at what point each new piece of information is revealed! I did enjoy it but it's certainly not for the faint-hearted!

Watched part 3 last night. It’s as mad as ever, but so enjoying it! Will see if I can persuade MrC to let us watch parts 5&6 tomorrow and Thursday rather than wait till next week.

I watched part 3 & 4 last night. Feel like my head’s about to explode. I have absolutely no idea how it will all be resolved

We just managed eps 4&5 this evening. Still creepy, but I started to have suspicions about who is behind it all during ep 4 which seem to have been confirmed at the end of ep 5. However I’m not holding my breath* as I’m usually quite gullible when it comes to red herrings 🤪
*Just as well actually as we won’t be watching the final episode until Thursday eve as MrC is out tomorrow night and I can’t hold my breath for that long!

I watched episode 3 yesterday and am also still enjoying (if that’s the word!) the show. Bonkers, just bonkers in part. It isn’t getting that great a reception from the critics but I don’t know why they have taken against it so much unless it’s because of the violence. I just find it very reminiscent of Joe Orton for some reason, but cannot actually remember many of his plays in any detail so it must just be the portrayal of Honey and Molina with evil jokiness. I did see several comments online, all saying what the **** is a donkey pitch? I was pleased to see them as I had said the exact same thing! Episode 4 tonight. I don’t think I’ll binge it as a little of such strong stuff does go quite a long way.

Oh - I never wondered too much about that. We have a Donkey Derby every year (at least, we used to) so I guessed it would be some kind of donkey paddock or something. There’s a pathway near me which is a shortcut to my old primary school that we used to call the donkey path because 2 lovely donkeys lived there and I was allowed to feed them sometimes.

The donkey pitch is explained in one of the early episodes. It was just the name the kids gave to that particular place as it was apparently a place where some man kept his donkeys in the past.
I have read ahead the spoilers for the final 2 episodes as I’m going away tomorrow. I had started to have suspicions about one of the people, but I’ll keep quiet 🤐

I watched Parts 5 & 6 last night. Wow! No spoilers, for those who haven’t finished it yet, but I think it was thoroughly worth watching. I was nowhere near the correct solution.

So what did we all think? I felt the Jack / childhood / missing brother story thread was underdeveloped and the link between that and the bogus cops in the stately home was contrived, as of course it was since they were originally two separate novels. The title was never explained - I'm guessing 'wolf' as in 'lone wolf' referring to Jack conducting his own investigation.
On the other hand, the denouement of the family scenario was satisfying, and terrific performances from Honey and Molina.

I agree, it was like they first thought it would be a good idea to merge the 2 stories then lost heart with the missing brother storyline half way through. Maybe you are meant to want another series with the missing brother story taking centre stage. The family story was strong enough to stand on its own, great performances from Honey and Molina - Sacha Dhawan is such an amazing actor!
