It's been rumoured for a few years, hasn't it? And it would go down really well over here. They wouldn't get much away support but the home games would be heaving. And like you say, the sponsorship would be worth a lot as companies would want to get in on it. As for QB, if he was Brit aristocracy, it would be spelt Gardner Menzieshough.

Good point about the road support.
Though games in Las Vegas (the Oakland Raiders are becoming the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 - talk about dumping on your loyal fans to chase $$$) and Florida could make for great winter vacations plus catching a game.

The Raiders are know for moving around though, I think. LA - Oakland - LA - Oakland and now Vegas.

Indeed. Probably only the Rams and Cardinals have moved more. All the more impressive that tiny little Green Bay Wisconsin - population 105,000 - have kept the Packers for 100 years. Though I guess the entire state is their true fan base.

That must feel so good for the team. I guess it's one of the reasons they hang onto the staff and players more than other teams. I wish Chicago was fan-owned. I'd scrape up the money for a share somehow.

When they ran the Bears v. Packers game over there did they show the little montage in the beginning about the NFL 100 year anniversary and dear Virginia McCaskey? It was really nicely done.
My goodness I hope I am as chipper and spry as she if I ever lived to be that old.
Once she passes the team turns over to her sons. I don't know what they will do. I reckon they will hang on to it and then pass it on to their heirs. I hope they don't sell to a Gazillionaire. I don't want a Jerry Jones owning the Bears.
The Halas/McCaskey's own the team not so much because they were rich, heck I think George Halas bought the team for a few quid back in the day (the Bears were the Decautur Staleys their first year which is why they are 99 years old instead of 100 like the Packers and then Halas bought the team and made it the Bears)

No, they didn't. Which is a shame. I don't get to see the full games as Sky show it over here and I refuse to give my money to that git, Rupert Murdoch. So I get the highlights on Youtube. I really miss Channel 4 showing it as they are an FTA channel and they did a great job. And then Murdoch realised there was money in it and nicked it off them when the contract was up for renewal.

It is amazing that the team has been in one family for a century though.

Two of the best Bears ever. Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers.
Butkus was pure NASTY he would NEVER be allowed to play in the modern NFL and Gayle Sayers unfortunately played at a time when they didn't know how to surgically repair knees.
