I managed to watch one of the new series via my daughter's account - ssshh!
They're all a little older and Max has put on weight, no Carmen to be seen though. It does have a bigger budget and you can tell, but they were still good together and at points the sizzle between them was obvious and well acted.
Very good and I will watch another soon.

I've watched 5 episodes so far. It's a good time filler if you're in the mood for something light and sunny. Yes they do look older. As far as I've watched, Carmen has appeared a little in one episode, but only really to establish that she's been offered some new job in Madrid. I think the writing's on the wall as far as her character is concerned.

I’m not so keen on this new series. Although it is bigger and shinier than when the BBC made it I think it has lost some of its charm. And I think some of the acting is a bit strained as well. Nice and sunny though.

Well it was never going to win a BAFTA was it. It's just a fun, charming cosy crime caper in a lovely place. Some of the acting is a bit bad, but they're not employing Cate Blanchett and the time schedules probably don't allow for multiple takes, but rather an 'Okay that'll do'.
I enjoyed it and thought it was fine, sunny fun.
