Just seen a promo for this on our local news.
Now, I seem to remember a certain will.i.am saying that he woudn't join The Voice on ITV. Seems he's changed his mind and will join Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and gavin Rossdale from Bush (never heard of him). Emma Willis will host.
The show is being "refreshed and revamped" with lots of changes to the format apparently. The judge will only see the act if they press the button. The other judges won't see them although viewers at home wiil.

Apparently Gavin Rossdale is British but has achieved greater success in the USA, having been married to gwen steffani.
I read that the BBC is/was unable to support commercial ventures I.e tours etc which is why the winners of the voice vanish as they are not allowed to promote them. So in theory this should all change following the move. I will give it a go on time slip,or recorded.

I've set up a series link. Didn't realise the BBC was limited in how it could promote the winners. No wonder they all sunk without trace. ITV may have more scope, promotion wise.

To be honest I'm glad it's gone from the BBC, can't stand it but pleased Tom Jones has found his voice again.  |

Quite enjoying the first show. Sir Tom snapped up 2 very talented young male singers - I agree it is great to have Mr Jones back on the panel. Unlike the others who instantly start goading each other to turn, he really listens to the vocals.
I tried the Take That show but there was not the range of styles you get on The Voice (obviously since they are looking for a young male singer/dancer). Good female vocalist on at the moment. 18 years old, works in McDonalds. Think she will go with Jennifer Hudson...

Just watching this. Some really good singers. I think The Voice is different because only talented singers are put through unlike the XFactor.
Like the new twist where if no-one turns, the chairs don't turn at all. I never liked hearing the judges excuses when none of them turned round.
Nice that the live band is there.

Some very good singers on tonight (14/1) - the 22 year old woman who sang 'Every Time We Say Goodbye' was sublime. Her diction was perfect. She did not perform the dreaded vocal gymnastics - just hit every note as it was written.
Felt sorry for the operatic young woman, but Tom had a point when he remarked to the others "what could we do for her?" That sort of vocal style is not really the aim of The Voice. I like to think she will get offers of singing work as a result of her appearance.
Tom and Jennifer seem to be cleaning up, team wise!
I did try Let It Shine, but the contestants are all too similar. Voice offers variety. |

Slim pickings for the judges last night. Not many turns of the chairs. A lot of the singers were very nervous which really affected their vocals.
