The second film in the new series of Maigret adaptations will premiere on ITV on Christmas Day at 9pm.
In Maigret’s Dead Man, a series of vicious, murderous attacks on three wealthy farms in Picardy hit the national headlines and the elite Brigade Criminelle at the Quay Des Orfevres is called upon to lend its expertise in tracking down the brutal gang responsible for the slaughter.
However, Maigret is resolute in investigating the murder of an obscure anonymous Parisian.
Guest stars include Ian Puleston-Davies, Aiden McCardle, Shaun Dingwall, Lucy Cohu, Leo Starr and Hugh Simon.
A further two adaptations have already been commissioned for 2017.

Great!!! I think the recorder will be going full pelt if Agatha is on the other side. I see an evening on the sofa with a bottle of red. (Well to be fair I could have seen that anyway, LOL)

I never watched this version.
I enjoyed Rupert Davies and Michael Gambon as Maigret. I can't see Rowan as him I'm afraid...I look at him and see Mr Bean

This was one of the festive TV highlights imo. The story was good (and very violent, although this was not so much shown as described) and I liked Maigret and his wife running the little café.
I adore Rowan Atkinson but at the most contemplative moments a little part of me expects him to suddenly say "wibble...."

It was one of my highlights too. Some of the shows I was looking forward were either OK or disappointing but I watched this on Christmas night and enjoyed it.

I loved it and can honestly say when watching him in this I never think about his other comedy roles.

I didn't like it. I much preferred Michael Gambon in the role.
