Wednesday nights 9pm,ITV drama based on the case of Peter Manuel a serial killer in Scotland in the late 50s,(probably not as well known as well as Christie )
The trailer has been shown repeatedly to the point of annoyance ,but even so one of those dramas that will not be an easy watch.
Stars that nice policeman from Line Of Duty.

Martin Compston & Douglas Henshall are two of my favourite actors.I remember seeing MC in 'Monarch of the Glen' years ago.

I shall definitely watch/record this. After watching MC in Line of Duty I was amazed to discover he is Scottish.

Douglas Henshall has made a career of playing coppers, usually of the kind who build evidence slowly and without melodrama. He and Martin Compston should make this compelling viewing.

Yes, it was good. The assault on Mary McLauchlan would have been difficult to believe if I hadn't known it was accurate. I wonder why he didn't kill her, as she had seen his face? Sadly, as we know he did go on to kill.

My guess is it was because he was so arrogant and sure of himself that he felt she wouldn't dare report him. Mind you, after he had been following her with that snare in his hand and the next scene showed him emerging into the estate on his own, I assumed he HAD killed her. Presumably that was when she spent however many hours it was in the field.

If it was a drama we would be saying it was too far fetched but it is a true story, sometimes the truth is stranger tand more shocking han fiction.

Absolutely loving this drama especially as it's based on a true story, really hope Manuel being a cocky swine was really punched in the face in prison. Great acting and was surprised I remembered the Chief Constable near the end as David Rintoul who played Darcy in the 1980 version of Pride and Prejudice.

I thought it was very good. Excellent performances from the two main actors. I think it was trying to get across that the events occurred before the days of criminal profiling and accurate forensic evidence. By today's standards it's shocking it took so long to catch him out. Attitudes to women and rape were very different too. Muncie was a trailblazer in his day.
