I’ll give it a go, if only for the sunshine . According to IMDb Ardal O’Hanlon is in 2 of the 6 episodes.

Ardal O'Hanlon plays the London-based boss of the main character Mackenzie Clarke, played by Anna Samson - who says she never actually met Ardal during filming, since all her scenes were shot in Oz and all his in London. So I guess Ardal will mostly be seen on the end of a telephone line.

So he’s not appearing as the character he was, he’s in it in a completely different role. How can they even think of doing that to an ex-lead?

He was in the Met the first time. I'm guessing he's been promoted?

Do you think it's basically going to be similar to the spin off where they are in Cornwall and we have all the IVF stuff. I only watch that for the supporting cast who are brilliant.

I don't think he's going to be in it much. So it will depend on the cast in Australia.

Return to Paradise?
After about 10 minutes of episode 1… no I don’t think I will

It was quite old fashioned, trite attempts at humour and badly acted wasn't it. I'll give it another go to see if that was just because we were being introduced to the main characters.

A lot of it was being introduced to the characters. I’ll stay with it, it was light hearted fun

I shall stay with it for the sun but really, it was pretty naff. I did like the male DC and the pathologist. The lead was dreadful, with her twitching, and darting eyeballs. The female volunteer was obviously an attempt to copy the office woman from Beyond Paradise, but failed miserably. Lots of clichés I thought. Not good at all, but wallpaper TV for afternoons or evenings.

I enjoyed it. They seem to be doing it as tongue-in-cheek take-off of DIP (itself a tongue-in cheek take-off... etc..). I wasn't bothered much about the crime plot - it's more about the journey than the destination. Ridiculous characters - and they've even given them their own pathologist (with lab) on the doorstep. There was a memorable one-liner where the ex-teacher/community officer complained her civil liberties were being infringed and the junior officer reminded her that the day before she'd asked if she could have a gun! The lead reminds me of Sarah Parish circa W1A. The bearded UK detective, Lloyd Griffith, (who I only recall from being on House of Games but seems to have been in loads of shows) every now and then made a gesture or said a phrase that sounded as if he was spoofing Ricky Gervais. (He seems to be speaking with a soft Birmingham accent, though Wiki-p says he's from Grimsby and was a choral scholar at Exeter Uni.)
