Someone on the DS thread posted this link to a website with lots of behind-the-scenes photos. Not many of the cast as the photographer has deliberately not included any that might reveal plot points. But there are a few of Morse, Thursday and Strange, and a lovely portrait of Anton Lesser as Bright. One thing that always makes me smile is the way the crew are all wearing puffer jackets and gilets while the cast are in thin summer clothes! At least the academics can wear gowns which are quite warm. www.simplyoxford.com/tag/endeavour

Watched it this evening, lovely jubbly. Fred Thursday is my favourite character on TV. Did anyone notice that when Morse was reading the paper at one point there was a story about a missing manuscript and the photo was of Colin Dexter. He always used to make a cameo appearance and they’re obviously still doing it.

I haven't seen it this week, but I am 'series-recording' it. I shall watch out for it. I knew he used to do a Hitchcock! Glad to hear they're keeping up the tradition.

I’ll have another look and see if I can tell you when it appears, or give you a clue 😊

(For anyone who hasn't yet had the joy of discovering his role in Cabin Pressure alongside B Cumberbatch and S Cole, there's almost always an episode to search for on Radio Four Extra and there's whole series strung together on YouTube.)

I haven't seen it yet either, saving it up. When Colin Dexter was too frail to take part in filming, they started giving him a cameo like this. I think that started in the last series. Now he's no longer with us it's good to hear they are keeping it up.

I'm sure I know the name George Fancy but some googling hasn't turned him up as a 'Morseverse' character who has appeared as an older version, so maybe it's just my imagination. Maybe I'm thinking of Captain Fancy from Carry On Dick! I thought it was a good one, if especially gory by their usual standards. {Spoiler}Still, they showed that with some tense music, careful filming and a couple of great reaction shots from Roger Allam and Shaun Evans, you don't *need* to show the severed head!

I thought George Fancy sounded familiar as well. They do have some unusual names in this show. Thursday, Strange, Trulove and now Fancy. Not a Smith amongst them.
And I agree with the spoiler as well.

I’ll watch anything with Roger Allam in, he has the most wonderful voice.

I thought the same at the time but have come to the conclusion I was thinking of P.C. Fancy Smith (Brian Blessed in his youth) in Z-Cars. Showing my age here!

He seems to be slowly 'grumping' his way into Morse.

I was about to post the same thing! There's a lovely contemporary Timeshift documentary about the filming of Z Cars available here:
(if the link doesn't work, go to YouTube and search for Late Night Line-up Z Cars).
18 mins in you can see what the car actually looked like! Brian Blessed isn't in the car on that occasion but he does appear elsewhere in the documentary, along with Colin Welland and lots of other lovely people from way back when.

I wondered if Fancy was going to be the guy from Z Cars too!
Very good episode I thought, as usual!
