I quite enjoyed this. Liked all the little references to the books, and the History of Hogwarts. It was good buiness sense to set it in America even though JKR never mentions the place in her stories.

I thought that, too. It's a well put together film, with some great CGI - most enjoyable.

For me, when I saw it at the cinema, it was to much cgi, not enough story and soul....I was bored by the end.

It could have down with some deeper story and soul. Not enough character development for me either. Something they could work on in the sequel, now the setting is established.

Saw the sequel last night after finally getting a group of friends together (like herding cats!) It was good, but I didn't like it as much as the first. For a start it was a bridging episode. You needed to have seen the first film to understand what was going on in this one, and it was left open-ended: there was no 'stand alone' element. It was also a lot more serious, very little light overall. And the way everyone and everything seems to be connected to everyone and everything else already established in the 'Wizarding World' seems to shrink the universe rather than expand it (and make things complicated at the same time!). Still, I did enjoy it.
