I liked, in earlier series, when Rimmer wanted to go to 'red alert' and Kryten asked "Are you sure sir? It does mean changing the bulb" That's one of my favourite lines. "There's always some excuse."

And not forgetting the Rimmer directives.😄
Kryten: Well, Space Corps Directive 195 clearly states that in an emergency power situation, a hologrammatic crewmember must lay down his life in order that the living crewmembers might survive. Rimmer: Yes, but Rimmer Directive 271 states just as clearly, "No chance you metal b*stard." Cat: Come on, man, you gotta sacrifice your life! I'm not asking you to do anything I wouldn't do! Rimmer: You? You'd sacrifice your life for the good of the crew? Cat: No, I'd sacrifice *your* life for the good of the crew.

It's just wonderful. They showed the one where Rimmer hopes to join the elite Holo-ship by getting a mind-transplant so he can pass their entrance exam. Kryten advises against the procedure "Sir, - you could be reduced to a vegetable!" Cat "Reduced?"

That was the Holoship episode from series 5. I adore series 1-6, but 1&2 and 4&5 are amazing. Holoship, Meltdown, White Hole, Justice, Balance of Power, Stasis Leak etc. The bit where Rimmer speaks really fast to Kryten I know by heart from years ago. I said to my brother that he can tell me something and the next day it'll be forgotten but weirdly I can still remember whole chunks of dialogue from Red Dwarf! Lol
Bink: Binks to Enlightenment. Evidence of primitive humour. The human has knowledge of irony, satire, and imitation. With patient tuition could maybe master simple tasks. Lister: Lister to Red Dwarf. Displays evidence of spoiling for a rumble. Seems unable to grasp simple threats. With careful pummelling, could possibly be sucking tomorrow's lunch through a straw.
Rimmer: Kryten. Assuming of course we're not dealing with five- dimensional objects in a basic Euclidean geometric universe and given the essential premise that all geo-mathematics is based on the hideously limited notion that one plus one equals two, and not as Astemeyer correctly postulates that one and two are in fact the same thing observed from different precepts. The theoretical shape described by Siddus must therefore be a poly-dri-doc-deca-wee-hedron-a-hexa-sexa-hedro-adicon-a-di-bi- dolly-he-deca-dodron. Everything else is popycock. Isn't that so? Lister: Rimmer? Rimmer: I wrote a palindromic haiku this morning, perhaps you'd like to hear it. Kryten: I'm afraid we don't speak Japanese, sir. Rimmer: I could translate it into mandarin for you. Lister: Rimmer, we don't speak Japanese, we don't speak mandarin, and we don't speak satsuma!

This week's episode was a cracker. The guy who's been imprisoned looked like a hard case and his crime? Tutting. Saying "tut" got for him imprisoned! And Johnny Vegas was great. And I loved when Rimmer went to say his space Corp directive and went straight into "shut-up Kryten" because he knew Kryten would tell him off for getting it wrong so shut him up before he could say anything.
This felt really old school Dwarf.

Yes - he KNEW he would get the directive wrong.....("no crew member can wear a ginger toupe on a Tuesday" - are you sure sir?) so he stopped Kryton in his tracks.
Planet Rimmer.....

That episode, Mechocracy, was brilliant. Again it was proper old school Dwarf which relied on the script and acting more than anything else. The idea was inspired and was brilliantly excuted. I loved when Rimmer was asking if a file was a thing from the first letter of a word being typed or only once the document had been printed, a refence to a woman's right to choose and when Kryten was talking about a vending machine he'd met, it was very much like the political statements we get around election time. Really funny. And then there was....TALKIE TOASTER! Arhhhhhhhhhhh! 'White Hole' is one of my all time favourite episodes and the whole scene with Talkie is one of my faves. The audience must feel the same from the applause he got and his opening gambit "I'm Talkie, Talkie Toaster, your cheerpie breakfast companion. Talkies the name toastings the game. Would anyone like any toast?"....And for anyone who did the Quiz I set in the green room on Monday, question 16 was 'Who first played Kryten in Red Dwarf?' And the answer was David Ross, the same person who voices Talkie Toaster! A bit of trivia for ya.
Talkie:Would anyone like any toast? Lister: Look I don't want and toast and he doesn't want any toast, in fact no one round here wants any toast, not now, not ever no toast. Talkie:How bout a muffin? Lister:Or muffins, or muffins, we don't like muffins round here. We want no muffins, no toast no teacakes, no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no crossaints, no crumpets, no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot cross buns and definately no smeggin' flapjacks. Talkie:Arhh, so you're a waffle man. 😂

NO. We don't want ANY BREAD BASED PRODUCTS. Lovely to see Talkie again. I liked the striking machinery and the rival campaigns. As for the virus being loaded onto the ship Rimmer "It's designed to fool the really stupid!" Kryten (to Lister) "Oh sir - you never stood a chance!"

Hasn't this series been brilliant. I also loved the use of the little clips from previous episodes, like Rimmer in Holoship and Quarantine.
