A good time-slot. I'll be watching.

I reluctantly started to watch this as I don’t like Jeremy Clarkson. I only lasted about 15 minutes before I turned it off for several reasons. It was very slow, that might have been because the contestant did not appear to be very bright so took ages to answer the questions. Jeremy was often quite rude to the contestant and he seemed to think that if he apologised it was ok to go on an insult him again. He doesn’t have the patience to deal with people who don’t know the answers. Wont be watching it again.

I'm not surprised to hear that. He's not a nice man.

Oh well, I enjoyed it. Yes, Clarkson is a very different style of host compared to Tarrant, but I think that was kind of the point.
I'm glad they went back to the old format - which WAS ALWAYS rather slow - but it adds to the tension and doesn't bother me in the slightest. I also like the two new twists - an extra lifeline (ask the host) and the option of when to set your safety-net. So now you don't have wait until you reach £32k, you can set it earlier than that if you want to, or later if you feel confident enough or still have other lifelines.

It was something engaging to watch on a Saturday evening which is a rarity for me. Yes, Clarkson was insulting and the first contestant was painfully slow and hesitant, due in no small measure I think, to how Clarkson spoke to him, making him nervous. The other two were much more on the ball/less intimidated so the pace picked up. I will certainly watch all the episodes this week and, hopefully, it will be brought back as a series in the future....but maybe with a more tactful host who puts contestants at ease rather than insulting and intimidating them.

I do wonder why people go on quiz shows, the first contestant not having heard of 'vent your spleen', and then making excuses about the pressure, well really?
It is tv,not a pub quiz after all, what do they expect?
I liked it and Jeremy Clarkson was good in his role.

Thoroughly enjoyed JC in the hosts chair but then I love his sarcastic humour which does come across as rude. Not everyone gets it. Liked the mention of Richard Hammond. I expect there will be more of that.

I think all the contestants would made aware before the show of the JC sarcastic humour approach....JC probably had a jokey chat with them in the green room prior to the recording to relax them and put them at their ease.

I went off him the day he came to my bar and told me I should get my tits out if I expected a tip. Ugh! A class act.....not!

I loved tonight's first contestant. He was brave, and ended up with £32k. He was entertaining (the guy who'd been working in Ethiopia) and thoroughly deserved it

I liked him too....he was clever and witty. He gave as good as he got from Clarkson and I got the impression that they genuinely liked each other. Loved the exchanges about Stop road signs. Even though there is one at a junction near me which I use regularly, I didn't know the answer. I'm too busy watching the other traffic before I pull out to take in how many sides the sign has!

I got the impression that JC was starting to get a little irritated by him. Noticed that some of the early questions seem to have gotten a little trickier. Not as straightforward as they used to be.

The policewoman tonight was absolutely useless! Why don't they check that contestants have reasonable general knowledge? We could have got through her questions in a fraction of the time if she wasn't so ignorant!

I didn't feel it was his fault she lost. He mentioned the Bowler hat/Apple painting and even though he hinted at beret his final answer was he didn't know. Therefore, if the Bowler hat reference didn't ring a bell with her she had nothing to lead her to beret other than her own choice.
