What a cracker of a show this is! Our group loved it as did the whole audience judging by the deafening applause. This is a new revival of Company where the male lead Bobby has been changed to a female, Bobbie, played by Rosalie Craig who I have seen a couple of times at the National but without knowing the name. She has a super voice. Bake Off Mel is in it and the legendary Patti Lupone, for whom I think most people were there. I had done little research but discovered later that one of Bobbie's three boyfriends is played by George Blagden, Louis XIV from Versailles himself!!!! Well I certainly didn't recognise him and he is very slight too. One couple of friends is now a gay couple so the song about pre wedding panic is sung by a guy and that was a highlight, along with the one solo Lupone number.
I am not a Sondheim Uberfan but this really is worth the trip and I thought it was a lot better than last year's Follies at the National.
