This was brought back to the National for the Armistice commemorations and is only playing until January5. It then goes on tour (again). I missed it when it first played at the NT when it was in the much bigger Olivier. Now it is in the smaller theatre but it is still very powerful, just not so much room for the horses to gallop (according to the chap in my left who was on his fifth visit). I was rather relieved I didn't start crying as I did when I saw the film but I was surprised the many children there weren't bawling.
A really good show, far more intimate than the film.

I agree, marion. Dad and I saw the show at the Marlowe theatre in September last year. It was quite spectacular. Done so well. I confess to not leaving the theatre with dry eyes! We both thoroughly enjoyed it.
