I have only just started watching, but if someone dies in their home alone, is it normal practice to give the keys to a reporter so she can go in and take photos and generally mooch about for an article on loneliness? I know she is Wisting's daughter but she isnt an heir or the executor! (I just know she is going to be a whinger, very much along the lines of Wallander's daughter in the early Swedish episodes.)

I didn't notice any whinging - not very happy though, nor the son, but then it is around the anniversary of their mother's death.
So far so good, with the series. I'm definitely drawn in and looking forward to the next pair of episodes. It seems to be the thing at the moment with crime investigation dramas to have multiple cases going on at once, both current and historical. No doubt some at least will turn out to be related.

Yes apart from the daughter I thought it was a very good start. And the twist at the end! Oh my goodness, I was very surprised by that.

Yes, I was taken aback by the ending. It's early in the series though so it can't be what it seems. {SPOILER: My thought}He (Hammer) is violently anti drugs, isn't he? - and strives to keep kids away from them. So I wonder if whoever she is, he's locked her in for her own good to get/keep her off them.

Well after a good start I thought this got very stodgy. It wasnt helped by the charisma free zone of the lead actor, like a bull in a china shop. And the police officers were a pretty useless bunch. In fact I dont think I liked anyone in it except for Benjamin, until he blotted his copybook with Linnea. I didn't guess the ending though. It was rather laughable that the police chief was suggesting to Wisting how they could get out if it, having left him out to dry earlier!

Yes, it did tail off a bit. I thought the second half (based on a different book?) wasn't as good as the first half. A couple of characters I found quite interesting, Nils and Torunn - I thought their personal stories might have featured a bit more. I liked it enough to watch another series if there is one - plenty more books to base it on.

Dreadful, dreadful,dreadful.
They all drove me to distraction. Veering from recklessness to inertia and back again. And being incredibly stupid.
I only stayed to see who dunnit and if any of the police, victims, their families and the press were alive at the end.

As far as men in woolly hats thrillers go this is one of the most annoying. A character mentioned that they lived in the richest place in the world......so you would think they could afford better light bulbs. The regional constant twilight and the gloomy houses and rather dreadful policing make this depressing viewing before taking on board the constant loss of pretty blonde girls for decades.

I can’t remember this at all! And that’s after checking it out on IMDB. I see upthread I wasn’t that keen but I’ll give it another go.

New series tonight, 9pm, BBC Four.
A wealthy family’s nanny is brutally murdered outside their home, while the young boy she looks after disappears on the same night – it’s a tricky case for Norwegian detective William Wisting, in a new season of this popular Scandi crime drama.
